SHEPHERD IN A MANGER

Nativity Scene was erected in a church yard.

During the night the folks came across this scene.

An abandoned dog was looking for a comfortable, protected place to sleep. He chose baby Jesus as his comfort. No one had the heart to send him away so he was there all night.

We should all have the good sense of this dog and curl up in Jesus' lap from time to time.

This is too sweet not to share.

No one mentioned that the dog breed is a "shepherd!"

Indeed, too sweet not to share.

Thanks to Ann.

  2. Oh, sweetheart!! That's so sad, as well as sweet. I guess when it got light he went on his way? ... :-( I hope he finds a home.

  3. Freda, I wish the words were mine, but they are not, thus the italics. The words and the picture are beautiful.

Cathy, perhaps someone will be inspired to give the dog a home. I hope so.

  4. I think I would have adopted this fine dog on the spot... as it would probably have continued to set a good example all its life.

  5. What a wonderful picture and such a special dog.

  6. I would have wanted to take the dog home, too. We've only ever adopted strays and pets from the rescue organization, the ones who seemed to need a home the most.

  7. Aww!

(I, too, care more about whether the lil' GSD found a home than anything else in the story)

  8. A more preferable illustration of the idiom "dog in a manger".

  9. Ostrich, I thought of the "dog in the manger" fable as I was posting. I remember as kids, we used the phrase fairly often as an epithet.

  11. Kitt Katt, the post speaks to a good many. After nearly a month, the post is still one of my popular pages according to my stats.

  12. If I owned a home with a big yard... I'd take this beauitiful creature in as my own. He'd (or she'd) have two little sibblings and a sister kitty.

  13. If there's a way to get him to NM, a home is waiting.
