THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

May we stop calling it the defense budget and start calling it the war budget?
The thought is not original with me, but I forgot where I read it first.

  1. Until we decided the army we'd assembled for WWII should remain as a standing army, the Pentagon was originally designed to fulfill it's post-war purpose as a government archive.

And it was called "the War Department."

Defense sounds so much nicer, and more permanent, donchaknow?

  2. Rmj, I remember. I am old. ;-)

Now it's time to cut the crap and call the monster by it's name.
