BAD WEATHER

The weather here is nasty, with thunderstorms, a tornado watch, and flash flood warnings.  I had an appointment for a check-up with my ophthalmologist in New Orleans, but I cancelled.  The street in front of my house is already flooded, and who knows what the streets would be like in Metairie.  The radar map is from Wunderground and is active and moves without refreshing the page.

Below is a picture from my front porch.  As you can see, it was quite dark.  The spots are rain blowing on the camera lens.  The storm is slow-moving and is likely to be with us for much of the day.  I hope we don't lose power.

  1. I hope you don't loose power too. Stay high and dry, Grandmere. Maybe not even in that order!

We're expecting an ice storm this afternoon and a blizzard tomorrow. I, too, hope we don't lose power!

    1. margaret, I don't think we need to worry about our house flooding.

As for your weather, I don't know how humans stand it. I hope you don't lose power in the cold weather. Do you have fireplaces or wood stoves in your house?

    1. Thanks, Rudo. So far, so good for us. Thunderstorms are still around, but we're OK. The worst is taking Diana out for brief pit stops. She doesn't have a wish to linger any more than I do

    1. Prairie Soul, we are fine. The weather was not as bad as expected, but I'm glad I was not on the road.

  4. New York City is embarking on ten days of 50 to 60F degree weather, in what's usually the coldest time of the year. Not good news, if fruit trees bud early.

("Embarking" and "in the same boat" -- interesting how naturally the nautical metaphors come to pen. Row, Row, Row, Mam'selle.)

    1. Amazing, Murdoch. Each time I visited NYC in January or February, I worried about blizzards, and there you are in 50° to 60°F temperatures. The plants get very confused.

    2. While we're having a freeze the next couple of night here in Sunny California (which used to be common, when I was growing up here in Sacra-tomato, but is less common now).

Stay High&Dry, Mimi! [I'll trust that being able to post here shows you haven't lost power...I hope!]

    3. JCF, it's not easy to stay high and dry. It's raining again today, but, so far, a lighter rain, not like yesterday.

A Facebook friend said it will be freezing in Phoenix, or close to it, in the next few days, and people there are panicking. Even we don't panic at 30°-37°.

  5. Oh noes Mimi, I hope it will be all right. You speak about it in more or less the same tone as your printer giving you trouble, in fact if anything you sounded more annoyed by the printer, but I do hope you and Tom and the rest of the family will be safe during the storm.

Here in London it was icy cold today but that's the worst I can say about it. We have it very easy here.

    1. We're fine, Cathy. After the morning, the weather was not that bad. It rained all day, but that's not too unusual.
