Faith is now quite uncertain. I'm no longer acting-as-if.
So beautiful. And I catch myself wishing for some powerful emotional response in my own tradition. But then I was struck by the racial segregation in these pictures. For all their devotion they were still consumed by racism.Perhaps bearing witness to our own faults. No matter how pious or devoted we are, we are still flawed humans who reach for God.But as Browning (?) said, "A man's reach should exceed his grasp or what's a heaven for?"Peace to you, Gram. When I renew my covenant today, I'll be thinking of you and this song.
RENZ, thank you. I'm glad you like the video. Sunday church is still where some of the most segregated gatherings of the week take place. :-(Peace to you on this day of the Baptism of Jesus.
Perfect for the Baptism of Christ this morning --and we will have a baptism today --maybe more! The 58th baptism I have done this year!!!
margaret, I'm so pleased to hear of the high numbers of Baptisms in your churches. The new-birth numbers counterbalance the high numbers of funerals...sort of.
Yes --they do, sort of!
You and Joel and people you serve are in my prayers, margaret.
Your prayers are like holy food, Grandmere --they sustain us. Thank you.
I almost thought that cover shot might be the [Your Maiden Name, Mimi] Sisters!Loves me some Alison. <3
You mean like the family photo I posted? I believe the picture on the video is from an earlier date.Alison's is a wonderful version of the old hymn.
