DOWN TO THE RIVER TO PRAY - ALISON KRAUSS

9 comments:

  1. So beautiful. And I catch myself wishing for some powerful emotional response in my own tradition.

But then I was struck by the racial segregation in these pictures. For all their devotion they were still consumed by racism.

Perhaps bearing witness to our own faults. No matter how pious or devoted we are, we are still flawed humans who reach for God.

But as Browning (?) said, "A man's reach should exceed his grasp or what's a heaven for?"

Peace to you, Gram. When I renew my covenant today, I'll be thinking of you and this song.

    1. RENZ, thank you. I'm glad you like the video.

Sunday church is still where some of the most segregated gatherings of the week take place. :-(

Peace to you on this day of the Baptism of Jesus.

    1. margaret, I'm so pleased to hear of the high numbers of Baptisms in your churches. The new-birth numbers counterbalance the high numbers of funerals...sort of.

    1. You mean like the family photo I posted? I believe the picture on the video is from an earlier date.

Alison's is a wonderful version of the old hymn.
