BS ON 24-HOUR CABLE NEWS

From The Onion. Far too close to the reality.

H/T to Juan Cole.

  1. I couldn't stop laughing. So real, unfortunately, to my xperience.

    1. Roberta, I watched again, and I couldn't stop laughing. The comedians and parodists give us truer news than the news channels.

    1. Ha ha. Too true.

None of the cable channels do a good job of covering newsworthy events if they don't happen in the US or affect us here. We are, for the most part, a parochial society, except when our dear leaders see an opportunity for another imperialist intervention, and then we grab the tiger's tail and join in with war drums.

  3. I'm changing my default cable startup from CNN to BBC News. The former is in HD, the latter regular. But BS in HD is just more detailed BS...

  4. It's hard to hold on to the tiger's tail while playing war drums. Sometimes I get carried away mixing the metaphors - literally. :-)

Tobias, I don't think we get BBC TV news here.

  5. Oh --the best news source is the Russian TV news --we used to watch it all the time. They had the bull before any one else --even before the BBC.

  6. The Onion news team expertly managed to satirize the words "some say" in their report. "Some say" is the lazy journalist's friend. No cite, no attribution, just pure bullshit. The network "news" sources are just as guilty of it as their cable bretheren and sisteren.

    1. Yes, including Greta von Susteren, who came to fame during the OJ trial. An anonymous source..., a source from ____, without permission to speak publicly.... Yes, we know the drill. Whatever happened to finding sources who are willing to give their names?

  7. The non sequiturae were breathtaking, and the candor of reporting officials standing around sooo appropriate, why is it real media cannot honestly report what they film?

    1. Pfalz prophet, it's disorienting to see the same sequence played over and over in the background, especially when what is seen happened in the past and is not part of the immediate story. What...?
