As you may or may not know, when I was in England in March of last year, I flew into Manchester, but I left immediately on the train to go North. Flying into the airport in Manchester is so much nicer than Gatwick or Heathrow that, if I ever go back to England, I'll fly into Manchester again. And next time I may stay a while to see what Manchester offers. Thanks for the recommendations.June Butlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01723016934182800437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2174812066017196444.post-66305309152576831122010-01-22T13:53:05.295-06:002010-01-22T13:53:05.295-06:00I love the guggenheim in bibao northern spain. With a grand sense of humor..

Having lived "upstate" for a large chunk of my life, I especially appreciated his "vision" of old cars, tire planters, roads with tiremark patterns, and other artifacts of rural upstate New York. And, I always do, my journey started at the top of the ramp and worked downward, so I started with the DeKooning work. Did you get a chance to look in at the permanent collection and gifts to the museum?

Many thanks for accompanying my on this journey. It was the first time I'd been back to the Guggenheim since my beloved Peter died almost 4 years ago. It was one of our favorites.

Warm regards,
Jjerseyjohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15562432754892725794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2174812066017196444.post-78064849676271021632007-11-06T18:40:00.000-06:002007-11-06T18:40:00.000-06:00JerseyJo, it was good of the young man to stop me ...JerseyJo, it was good of the young man to stop me to ask how I liked the exhibit, and that we shared delight in it.

I hope you like it. The last time I was at the Guggenheim, several years ago, there was a magnificent Brancusi exhibit. I seem to hit good ones there, and I love walking the ramp.June Butlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01723016934182800437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2174812066017196444.post-19865106409256831992007-11-06T18:28:00.000-06:002007-11-06T18:28:00.000-06:00Thanks, Mimi, for this. Also I think art is so much about expression that there is almost nothing that would offend me or cause me to wince.

Unless of course, it was an exhibit of Bush Family photos.

Oh that was mean, wasn't it?

Tsk tsk.Franhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07181529277715646835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2174812066017196444.post-55223746722881120412007-11-05T19:25:00.000-06:002007-11-05T19:25:00.000-06:00But hey, at least I read a review of this exhibit ...But hey, at least I read a review of this exhibit in the New Yorker! I've brought my son to the Met a few times, but he pretty much only likes the Egyptian temple and the musical instruments. And the cafeteria. :)

But hey, at least I read a review of this exhibit in the New Yorker!
