I'm heading out to a performance of "La Bohème" at Tulane University with a young friend. It's one of my favorite operas. Romantic that I am, I like the operas that are filled with beautiful melodies and arias. The number of talented artists performing in the relative hinterlands is always an amazement to me. I hope for the best today.

ReplyDeleteI was at a concert of music from the 1300s tonight. It was wonderful, too. 3 persons singing a capella, all in Italian and old French. I'm glad there were translations!

ReplyDeleteSusan S, your musical evening sounds lovely. Ahh! Italian and old French. The Cajuns around here actually speak a version of old French, the French from the 18th century. Some have accused them of speaking "bad French", but the experts say, "Not so."
ReplyDeleteA gentle correction: "Bonsoir," would do it. Don't worry about making mistakes in foreign languages here. I butcher them rather freely myself.
So what I actually said was "Beautiful Evening!" Well, I guess that's not such a bad mistake! :-)
