THE FORCE OF A HANDBAG WIELDED BY AN ANGRY OLD LADY

Extraordinary footage as a gang attempts a smash and grab raid in Northampton - only to be fought off by a pensioner armed with a handbag.

So many folks have sent me the link to the video, that, although the YouTube version has gone viral, I now feel compelled to join the crowd and post the video.

That's one brave and, some might say, foolish old lady. No, I am not the old lady in the video, but I admire her greatly. All you crooks out there, keep in mind that the force of a handbag wielded by by an angry pensioner is not to be dismissed. The old girl runs like a quarterback.

  1. I've seen it questioned that this is genuine. Anyone know the answer? Certainly not an "old lady" in my book, BTW.

  2. Lapin, I can't remember where, but I saw another portion of a different video in which people were helping the old lady, and her face was blurred so she could not be identified by the crooks who got away. I've heard no word that the video or the old lady is fake.

  3. It's right at the end of this video. She's tiny, too, compared to the others.

  4. Thank you for this, enjoyed hearing Chris DeBurgh's Lady in Red along with it! I think it's good to see something positive happen these days...sometimes, it seems the "hoodies" are taking over...
I enjoy your blog. Thanks for taking the time to write.

  6. Kay, thanks for your kind words. The Lady in Red is a nice touch.

Coincidentally, I just now heard that Michelle Obama was criticized for wearing a red dress, the Communist color (!), to the dinner at the White House for Chinese president Hu Jintao. What silliness!

JCF, I can't run like the lady in the video, more's the pity.

  8. I'm glad to hear the first lady wore red at such an occasion, red was an auspicious color in China thousands of years before Communism.

  10. The word is that our present First Lady stays in the East Wing of the White House and doesn't venture over to the West Wing. She's settled upon her campaign in favor of healthy eating and reducing obesity in the US.

But for important occasions, Michelle Obama makes a statement with her choice of clothes. She looks good as the First Lady in Red.

Lapin, what a delightful article on the other Lady in Red. Thanks for the link.
