The "devil" came to Thibodaux Sunday, Jesslyn Lirette said, and he did so in the form of the man she was with for 10 years. The devil, she said, took her "angel" away.I'm sick at heart and hardly have words for this story. If you read the entire article, it seems there were so many signs along the way that the family needed help, and had someone or some agency intervened, the tragedy may have been prevented.
Jeremiah Wright, 30, Lirette's live-in boyfriend and the father of their child, 7-year-old Jori Lirette, is accused of killing the boy and dumping his dismembered body outside the West Seventh Street home the three shared.
Jori loved his father more than anything, Lirette said.
"He still killed him," she said. "He killed my baby."
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
UPDATE: A further update from the Daily Comet, with more unspeakably gruesome details on the killing.
Terrible case. I just sent you a brief email, not having seen that you had posted this.
ReplyDeleteSo sad, so sad.
ReplyDeleteYes, so sad. Prayers.
ReplyDeleteA horrendous event to say the least! I just saw this on an AP app and could not believe the horror and brutality of it. What susan s said.
ReplyDeleteThat's so awful. Why?? ... Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteHave read the whole thing - horrible.
ReplyDeleteThe family was troubled for some time. When you read the entire story, it seems that, without outside help, something bad was likely to happen.
ReplyDeleteIn a small town like ours, such a vicious crime committed on a child takes a toll on everyone.
Argh, we seem to have a similar case here in NorCal too.

Rest in peace, little angels... :-(..
Prayers for all in Thibodaux. Mimi you must be feeling sick over this. It is a terrible thing no matter where it happens, but when it is your own town it really sucks.
ReplyDeleteThe house where the family lived is less than a block away from our church, and the video says police received the call around 12:15pm and arrived shortly thereafter, which was not long after I left the parish hall from the coffee hour.

ReplyDeleteSo sad. I echo Mother Amelia's sentiments.
ReplyDeleteThoughts linger in the mind....
