'AN EMERGING CHURCH'

From George Packard at Occupied Bishop:
I had another interview with Thom Hartmann....

All to say--as I mention during the interview--that when I was on top of that ladder at the Duarte property and about to take that plunge into trespassing things all got very clear. Our dear Church is being re-formed whether we like it or not. It is just exciting!

  1. No doubt about it...while some enjoy, and I think they do, the politcal/suspicious ¨high level¨ murmurings/party-line amongst one another at Church, others have already moved into the clarity of action and more positive action (in all levels of real Christian life)...meanwhile, 815 remains ¨prudent¨ and attempts to keep us nailed, blindfolded and speechless to some fantasy inspired notion of a cross illusion...it takes a certain kindy of not-so-clever-arrogance to think that ¨managing¨ can be done without the knowledge of hands on experience (or even really inspired advice)...however, TRUST in GOD is the test that often failed by religious leaders at Church when daunting looking missions are presented before us/them. Action can´t be replaced by living in a vacum of shallow ¨appropriateness¨...Bishop Packard knows how to strive to get to the the light...no matter what.

  2. Len, what I would like to see is for the church to be a presence with the Occupy groups, to meet with them and provide refuge, if possible. I don't know where the Occupy folks will go from here, but I think the movement is important and has already effected a change in the conversation in this country. It's not necessary or possible to agree with the Occupiers on everything, because their reasons are varied if you ask them, "Why are you here?" Plus, they won't be pinned down to a list of demands.

To the church, I'd say, "Get in; get out; or get out of the way."
