IOI YEAR OLD WOMAN DRIVES AN 81 YEAR OLD PACKARD

Thanks to Doug, who says:
101 year old driving an 81 year old car! YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS ONE.

Notice at the very end when she steps on a little red towel to get into the car so she won't dirty the running board, then picks it up and puts it in the car so she can use it when she gets out!

Precious lady!!!! An amazing lady, 101 years old, driving an 81 year old car, who changes the oil and spark plugs herself!

This is a hoot!

  1. Very cute.

Just yesterday, over at my local park, I saw a quite large collection of Model A Fords (about the same age as the Packard above). As another drove up and parked, I confirmed they were Sacramento's Model A Club. Sadly, however, they were parking outside the Community Building, where they were having a memorial for one of their members.

You take good care of these old cars, and someday they may outlast us (though Barbara's got that 20 year headstart on hers. ;-/)

  2. For once the "one little-old-lady driver" claim holds true.

  3. Margaret can keep in shape driving the car with no power anything except the engine. Brakes, steering, and all that we take for granted as being easy require human power on her part. Perhaps driving old cars is what helped her along to a young 101 years of age.

  4. Some little old lady! To me, this is a story of heroic resilience, someone who refuses to be defeated by the ageing process. More power to your driving elbows, Madam!

  5. Lay Anglicana, I'm with you. I'm afraid I'm more defeated by the aging process tham the spry 101 year old lady.

  7. Allie, you're welcome. Isn't Margaret great looking, and didn't she hop right into the car like a youngster?

  8. Anything like this inspires me.

My Mum is 90 (had me in her 40's so I'm very lucky she's around still)It's great to see someone so much OLDER being so able & sprightly!

  9. Margaret is an inspiration to me, that's for sure. I think she's more sprightly than I am, too.
