TO THE PROVINCES OF THE ANGLICAN COMMUNION:

"Sign on to the Anglican Covenant, and toe the line, or else."

"Where is the line?"

"We can't answer your question. You will know you've crossed the line when you suffer 'relational consequences'."

  1. Sad but true. The PAC is deeply dysfunctional and reflects Rowan Williams' leadership style -- from behind; i.e., I'll tell you where to go when I know where the majority are going!

  3. This is so familiar from my childhood. The favorite method of child control - you never knew when you would cross the line - then whack - on your arm = out of the blue. It makes for very tentative fearful children who have a secret life outside of the eyes of parents.

  4. The upsidedown and selfrighteos-oversizedness of it all that is a very scary thing -- it´s in the not knowing ¨the relationsional consequences¨ of the Anglican Covenant that will have the guarantee of a punishing sting (just ask the holy illusionist ++Drexel Gomez of LGBT blood drenched Jamaica/West Indies and author/chair)!

Exactly, Ann, and grown-ups do not have to buy into this sort of nonsense.

Len, the folks who sign on are burdened with a heavy load of 'not knowing'.

  6. Lambeth Palace/ABC is quite adept at drawing fuzzy lines. We will always be guessing at where that line is that he wants us to toe.

Sometimes I just wish we would say: "We are done." He might have a crashing breakdown without someone to manipulate. (Apologies for being so cranky about this.)

  7. Bonnie, I'm tempted to say, 'We are done', too, but I'd feel that I was abandoning my brothers and sisters in England, Canada, and the rest of the communion. If the Episcopal Church is sidelined in some way, that's another matter, and the relationships will endure.
