Tripping Out - Again

Tomorrow morning, I leave to visit my sister's family and to attend a reception in honor of the young man who won the scholarship from the The Dillenkoffer Endowment, an endowment established in memory of my sister by a friend of hers. My sister passed away 15 months ago from pancreatic cancer. I still miss her so very much. I know she will be with us in spirit as we celebrate with the young people, for she always loved a party.

I'm looking forward to seeing my brother-in-law, nieces, and nephew, and their families again, and to meeting the young people who received the scholarships. The winner received $10,000 per year for four years, and the runners-up each received a surprise gift of $1000.

I probably won't be posting, but I will have computer access, so I won't shut down the comments while I'm gone. I'll be back home on Monday and posting again probably on Tuesday. I know you'll all be waiting breathlessly for my return to the blogscape.

God bless you all, and please, behave yourselves while I'm gone.

  3. I'm not getting off to a good start. The function of the airline's web site that prints boarding passes has a glitch and cannot issue them as of now. If the glitch is not fixed before I leave, there will probably be long lines at the counter.

Oh, joy. That on top of all the other crap that flying involves today.

I thought at first that I might be on some kind of list, but I called and got the info on the glitch.

I'm a grouch, aren't I? Thanks for all the good wishes. I'll miss y'all, too.

  7. Hello Grandmere,

Hope your trip is graced, and that in the bittersweet experience of remembering and honoring your sister and her gifts the joy and gratitude outweigh the re-awakened grief. Look forward to hearing how it went.

I don't think I have commented before, and am delurking to express my deep thanks for your support of my sweet Kate...I was worried about what effect this rejection might have on her newly discovered/rediscovered Christian faith and self esteem alike. And the groundswell of kindness--both from people that understand her lifestyle and those that don't-- has been such a blessing bringing good out of evil (as God is so talented at doing through her people, with all our wounds and struggles and imperfections).

As another life/spiritual growth blogger I also really appreciated your humility and sense of humor in the Benedict thread, btw :-)

But you know some of us will misbehave while you are away. ;-)

  9. Mimi, What a wonderful way to remember your sister. And what a wonderful way to affirm LGBT youngsters.

Hope your time with family will be blessed.
