Advent Calender 2007

Today is day three of Advent. The beautiful calendar pictured above is from the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. If you click on each day's date, you will find the following:

Daily Meditation
The Daily Office
Carol of the Day
Scriptural Reflection (Podcast)
Give a family a pig.

Yes, they're breaking the rule and doing carols during Advent, nevertheless it's a lovely site, well worth visiting during this season of waiting.

  1. Good news, Grandmère! I did not embarrass myself or others during last night's Advent procession.

    What an amazing service.

  2. Jan, Diane, I'm pleased that you like the calendar.

KJ, that inspires me to sing another new antiphon.

    O, happy day!

I knew you could do it. Did the verger smile at you again?

  3. There's a protocol about carols during Advent?

  4. DP, yes! No carols in church during Advent! The only exception is for the children's Christmas pageant. Advent is a time of waiting, expectancy.

Besides if we sing the carols all during Advent, we will be sick of them. And don't we hear enough of them outside of church?

  7. I went on the lovely advent calendar. I looked on the floor after but, sadly, no chocolate.

  9. Grandmère, My computer is observing Advent. It will not play the carols. I can get everything else on the site, but not the carols due to an "internal operating error." This has something to do with a conflict between Firefox and the Microsoft Media Player and this is not the only place the problem has cropped up. Even though it is frustrating, here it also has a bit of humor attached.

  10. PJ, really? Your very first? How exciting.

Boocat, it's no error. It's divine intervention. Your computer is a proper Episcopalian.
