Jindal Raises Funds For Next Campaign For What?

I said I probably wouldn't blog for a while, but some stories are irresistible and easy.

From the Times-Picayune:

Taking his second out-of-state fundraising trip in a week, Gov. Bobby Jindal left for Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday to attend a fundraiser at a private residence in support of his gubernatorial re-election campaign.
....

Jindal held two fundraising events in North Carolina on Wednesday. Jindal has held fundraisers recently in Florida, Texas, Connecticut and Mississippi.

Folks all around the country really, really, really want Bobby Jindal reelected governor of Louisiana. His emergence as a rising young star in the Republican firmament has nothing whatever to do with any of these events. His ethnicity as an Indian-American is also completely irrelevant, as is that of Michael Steele, the new chairman of the RNC, who is African-American.

Of course, since nothing's happening here in Louisiana that requires the governor's attention, the fundraising gives him something to do.

  1. Poor Republicans, slow on the uptake, wonder "maybe if we front a person of color too?" Saw it last week when they narrowly, after several ballots, bit the bullet and elected Michael Steele chairman of the RNC, Now some of them are toying with the idea of Jindal - a bit easier to swallow since he's Indian and so "not quite as bad". Any face the American public will buy, so that deep reaction lurks behind it. "Ils n'ont rien appris, ni rien oublié." The 2012 Republican primaries should be fun.

  2. On a brighter note, a female sex worker is gearing up to run against David Vitter for Louisiana's junior senate seat in 2010. Won't that be a toot and a hoot! Les affaires politiques à Louisiane, ah, si bizarre, si douce!

  3. Is this a French blog? When did that happen? I didn't give my permission.

Oui, c'est vrai. Republican politics and Louisiana politics provide endless amusement. Now if only there were no consequences in the real world as a result of the foolishness.

  4. Well -- as a resident of "not-Louisiana" I sure hope Bobby stays IN Louisiana. Sort of the way I hoped Ronnie was elected governor-for-life in California rather than letting him loose on the whole country. But I realize that it may well be unfair to the residents OF Louisiana to ask them to bear that burden.

  6. Susan, you have a point. "We" elected him. Not me, of course, but I'm stuck with him.
