I'm Home! Just One Simple Mixed Connection

Hi folks. Thanks be to God, I made it home safely with no missed flight connections this time, but with a grand mix-up with Grandpère at the airport in New Orleans. We were at different places in the airport, and HE DIDN'T HAVE HIS CELL PHONE WITH HIM!!! After waiting an hour, I took a taxi to my daughter's house in New Orleans. GP finally went to his vehicle and got his cell phone, but HE DIDN'T KNOW MY CELL PHONE NUMBER!!! He called my son in Thibodaux to get my number. When he reached me, I was getting out of a taxi at my daughter's house. GP met me there, and we came home.

My trip was wonderful. I am tired, and I'm going to bed now. Good night, my sweets. Rather, good morning.

The comments function is now open.

  1. It was wonderful to see you at both the Integrity Eucharist AND the Episcopal Women's Caucus Breakfast.

    It made my convention.

Don't they have a public announcement system or public phones at the airport?

  8. Welcome home, chere Mimi bien-aimee.
Is it really true that the HOB only passed D025 after a three hour lecture from L'Eminence Grise de N.O?
I heard you pulled no punches, and it was just what they needed.
Ton retour and D025 both cause for praise and celebration!

  9. You mean they waited for you to leave before they passed D025 in the HOB? :)
Welcome home, and Thanks be to God!

  11. It made my convention.

Elizabeth love, I believe it's possible that something happened yesterday that surpassed your joy at my presence at the events of the convention. I enjoyed seeing you, and I thank you for introducing me to some of the famous folks who were there. You know everyone!

    Straight men are hopeless :-)

    Brian, indeed!

Erika, I asked for a public announcement, but I never heard it, nor did Grandpère.

Counterlight, thanks for the reminder about Bastille Day. I'll try to drum up a post later today.

David, the HOB would not give me the floor. I don't know why.

SCG, I try not to take it personally that the resolution passed only after I left.

Relax, I did it for you.

Go take a nap and celebrate. It usually takes me a couple of days to recover from travel to California. Flying and airports are very stressful.

  14. HolyFoolishness, blessings back to you, love.

I was pleased to spend time with you and your beloved before the Integrity Eucharist, and I can't thank you enough for my wonderful seat at the beautiful evening of celebration. What a joy to be there right up front and center.

  16. Welcome home, Grandmere Mimi!

It was a thrill of a lifetime to meet you, Rev. Susan, Rev. Elizabeth, It's Margaret (I think..), IT and the Redoubtable Louie Crew! My impromptu last minute trip to the Integrity Eucharist will be a memory highlight of my lifetime!

And perhaps our unofficial presences helped the Holy Spirit in her work. (Big wink!)

  17. Glad you made it home safely, Grandmere. Indeed, it was a delight to meet people, and I am asking for meetup pics over at Friends in Anaheim.

Wish we all could ahve visited longer with each other.

  18. Mimi -- you were there for all of us who couldn't be there. And since you were carrying all our hopes and prayers, I have no doubt that your presence served to leak all those hopes and prayers into the (sometimes little, pea-sized) brains but more importantly the hearts of the HOB delegates.

    Job well done!

  20. Pat, it was a joy to meet you. I'm sure that our mere presence was a force.

The volunteers worked and are still working so hard. GC09 couldn't have happened without you. May God bless you all.

IT, the afternoon with you and your wife was lovely. I'm so glad we were able to spend time together.

SusanKay and Amy, I wish you could have been there, but I know you were there in spirit. I missed y'all, too.

  21. Please to acquaint Grandpere w/ the Contacts function of his cellphone. Please to program YOUR cellphone # into his Contacts list yourself, Mimi! ;-X

Glad you had a good trip! (Why, I bet those Bishops passed D025 simply because they knew YOU would be cross if they didn't! ;-D)

  22. JCF, sigh.... I will try. All GP knows how to do is put in a number, hit call, and end call. Again, I will try.
