Secretary Hillary Clinton was hospitalized today after a doctors
doing a follow-up exam discovered a blood clot had formed, stemming from
the concussion she sustained several weeks ago.
She is being treated with anti-coagulants and is at
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital so that they can monitor the medication
over the next 48 hours, Deputy Assistant Secretary Philippe Reines said.
Her doctors will continue to assess her condition, including other
issues associated with her concussion. They will determine if any
further action is required, Reines said.
Prayers for restoration to full health for Secretary Clinton. I admire her greatly for her tireless dedication as Secretary of State. She's done an outstanding job.
I join you in prayers for her full recovery. She is an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteIndeed she is.
DeleteGeaux Hills :) I hope she gets better soon. She gives the impression of being pretty strong and healthy.
ReplyDeleteI just saw a segment on TV with Dr Sanjay Gupta, the TV doc. The clot is behind the ear, and Hillary's being treated with medication to dissolve the clot. The dosage must be just right, enough to do the job, but not too much to cause bleeding. Any blood clot is a rather serious condition.
DeleteSomething rather similar happened to my eldest (and learning-disabled) stepdaughter, except it was an abscess rather than a clot. It was, not to put too fine a point upon it, really rather terrifying. But the British NHS saw her through. Best of luck, Mrs Clinton.
ReplyDeleteJames, the clot was life- threatening, but I read that Secretary Clinton is improving and apparently suffered no neurological damage as a result. It appears that the most likely cause is dehydration from the stomach virus, a rare complication.
