Miss Hippo Reads My Blog

I am "made" as a blogger. Miss Egyptian Hippo of Love reads my blog. Yay!

You may ask, "Who is Miss Egyptian Hippo of Love?" Miss Hippo is one of the stars of Padre Mickey's regular Friday (sometimes Saturday, when El Padre is lazy on Friday) entertainments.

If you are not a regular at Padre Mickey's Friday entertainments, then you should be. The proof that Miss Hippo reads Wounded Bird is here. Miss Hippo is smiling, because she liked what she read at my blog. Scroll down past the wine bottles, and you will find the picture at the head of this post. El Padre blogs at Padre Mickey's Dance Party.

Idea stolen from Caminante.

  4. CORRECTION:
Miss Hippo appears to have her back turned to your blog. As she is a goddess of love this is hardly surprising you nasty bit of stuff.

  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Mwaaaaah!

Doing the wiggle dance for you, and singing a little birthday song!

  8. Yes, it is my birthday. I am not ashamed to say my age - 73. That's a lotta years of living with a lotta mistakes and - I hope - a little wisdom gained.

Thanks for the good wishes. Leave it to MadPriest to try to spoil my day, but I will not permit him to do that.

On Friday, we will celebrate three birthdays - mine, my son's and my grandson's - with a dinner out. September is a busy month.

  10. Lots of hugs, Mimi.

For the last few years, on my own birthday, I've been in the habit of looking up the psalm that corresponds to my age, to see if it has some nuggets for me to take into the next year. Psalm 73 has some good ones:

'Nevertheless I am continually with you:
    you hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterwards you will receive me with honour.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire other than you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever' (verses 23-26).

Praying that one for you today, my friend.

  11. You know I saw that the other day and thought to myself that Miss Hippo was much more discriminating than I had realized!!

  12. WHOA- stop the presses!

It is your birthday! Now that is great, what a better place the world is, blogworld in particular, for your fine presence.

Blessings peace and happiness to you dear Grandmere!

  15. *sings happy birthday terribly off key*

*disappears offstage, pursued by those with perfect pitch*

*zooms back across, giggling and cheering*

    Happy birthday!

  16. I couldn't let the day go by without wishing you a wonderful year, Mimi! May you get back all the love, wisdom, and kindness you show the world.

(And I hope you don't mind that I always call you "Mimi" instead of "Grandmere"...in my neck of the woods, "Mimi" *means* "grandmother"!)

    Love,
    Doxy

    P.S. Tomorrow is my own grandmother's birthday---she'll be 82.

  17. ¡Feliz Cumpliaños, Abuelita!
Many happy returns of the day, as they say here.

That priest is just mad because his blog is read by Shrieky the Bird.

  18. Tim, what a lovely idea! I love the Psalms and read them regularly, but had not thought of reading my "birthday Psalm." Hey, we can keep going till 150, and that is a Psalm of rejoicing.

  19. Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I have been able to get online only sporadically all afternoon. Don't know what the problem is, but it's not a nice birthday present. Grrr.

Tim, that is a lovely idea about the psalm, and it's a perfect word for the day when the computer acts up. My flesh and my heart failed, indeed.

Jane, I was thinking the same thing. You never run out of psalms.

Doxy, wish your grandmother a Happy Birthday from your virtual friend.

I'm so glad you're coming to New York, despite the unfortunate name for that event.

  22. Pitui! Here's one of my most prized dog biscuits. Sorry about the slobber.

Happy Birthday... what is it in dog years?

    woof!

  23. Ah, grandmère, je vous félicite. Que la sagesse (et la prudence) de ce tas d'années vous sauvent de folie en ce jour de fête.

Party down and let the good times roll. Ignore nasty priests who might be jealous. We clergy types act like we know everything when we really know very little.

  24. Dear Mimi, I am just barely going to get this birthday wish in it before midnight EDT! Yes, Miss Egyptian Hippo of Love knows just where to go in Blogland for the most refined and relevant posts. Thanks for all you do to enrich our world.

I wanted to say happy birthday before it was the next day. too late.

Well it is still your birthday here on the west coast. So I'm not really too late.

Best wishes for a happy birthday.

Hope that you had a great one.

and I'm very excited about finally meeting you in NYC.

  28. I like Shrieky the Bird. Shrieky is my favourite. We understand each other.

  29. Is that our Tawaret?!

She's lovely in blue! I, naturally, prefer Anubis and Set (who tried to win a wrestling match with Horus by the unique strategy of telling Horus what a lovely bottom he had).

And, Happy Birthday, belated as it may be!

  30. Grandmere! I couldn't get online all day yesterday (too busy)--is it okay if I sing to you now?

It's your birthday, we wish you many more
Health and wealth and friends by the score--
Cut the cake and let's eat some more!
    Happy Birthday to you.

  31. Ma cher Grandmere,
A birthday present for you. My bishop will be preaching at St George's in NO. Can you be there? Is it anywhere near you?
We had our diocesan meeting last night and he said that the Bishops would have one day to help on cleanup projects and were asked to scatter around on Sunday morning to different churches.

If you have never heard Bishop Michael Curry please make haste to hear his preaching. I am proud to call him my Bishop.
    Love,
    amyj

  35. I like to answer my comments, but with my internet access down, they got away from me, but thank you all.

Amyj, welcome. I will be going to the service at the cathedral where Bishop Katharine will be preaching, otherwise I'd love to hear your bishop. We will have a bishop in our parish, too, but I won't be there.
