Why?

Why am I getting over 300 visits yesterday and well over 200 today to this page on my blog about my trip to Mexico 50 years ago, which I posted on 8-11-07? It seems to have to do with the Mexican flag posted on the page. It's driving my stats way up, but the number is not realistic, because I doubt that folks are finding what they're want.

  1. Sometimes the hit numbers I get are confusing too. Weird!

  2. Dan, it's good to know that I'm not alone. At first I thought my wee blog, with its modest numbers, was getting very popular, very quickly.

  3. You should install Google Adsense and earn something from that.

  4. 700 visitors today! That is ridiculous. I've never even come close to that number before.

  5. My my my- what a popular grandmere you are!

Ironically, your post on the Mexico trip was the first one of yours that I commented on, I think.

Ah who can trust those numbers? I am just glad to be among one of yours!

Pax to you Grandmere and blessings this day. I really appreciate your comments on my 9/11 post.

More of that to follow today.

  6. I don't find it hard to believe that you have 700 readers... enjoy your fame.

  7. I knew Mimi before she was so popular; she was just as cool then as she is now.

  8. My friends, thank you, but I assure you that my fame is fleeting. It won't last. To me, it's noise that I wish would go away. I may have to remove the Mexican flag from that old post.

  9. Enjoy it. Bask in it. Viva The famous Grandmère!

I have one of those as well, an old post that seems to land about 30% of my traffic. It is slightly more satisfying though, as they seem to be looking for what is there, rather than just passing through because of an unrelated item.

  10. David, I get quite a lot of traffic from old posts with art works, such as paingings, etc. at the head of the post, and I can understand that. But I can't be the logical choice for folks wanting information on the flag of Mexico. Part 2 of the story of my trip does not get that kind of traffic.

  11. The Mexican flag. Imagine that. And the silly priest thought it was saying "f&*k" and so forth.

  12. LJ, now you know the secret. Put a picture of the Mexican flag at the head of one of your posts and - Voila! - 732 visitors so far today, more than yesterday. F**k Madpriest's advice.

  14. Diane, this is an irregularity that in no way reflects my popularity. My best hope is that a few of the hundreds of people who come to look at the Mexican flag, might look at a few of the other posts while they're here.
