Danger! Gay Bride!

From Old American Century, via David at The Knowledge Box.

Those folks have terrific posters. I'm sure that I'll be borrowing again in the future.

  1. Oh dear. It reminds me of some of the satirical posters that were popular when Reagan was president.

Wait till we get to the Gay Divorcee. Then they'll really be outraged.

  3. Love it, Mimi.

I've been ridiculing for years the notion that gay unions(now, happily, marriages) "threaten the sanctity" of my marriage(30 years 24 June).

Are there so many closeted folk out there who are living a lie that same-sex marriage will doom society as we know it?

Thanks for a post ridiculing the homophobes. However, their real target in opposing enlightened treatment of gay high school students, and gay people in the Church, is the welcoming of sexual diversity in our society.Thank G-d, I believe the hard-hearted are fighting a losing battle. The young people I know reject the hatred of gay people nearly unamimously, and they are our future. I only wish I were twenty years younger so that I could enter an age where homophobia would be as scorned as racism.

    Come the revolution.

  4. Mimi, You might enjoy this take on teh problem....it is a link to Candorville, a wonderful new comic strip. There are two panels. Yesterday's and today's.

    Whaddyuh think?

  5. John D, how could gay folks possibly trash the institution of marriage more that we straight folks have done?

I could not agree more that the homophobes are losing the battle. The majority of young people coming up today do not scorn LGBT folks or feel threatened by gay marriage. I would not want to paint the picture as rosier than it is, for LGBT young people still have a harder time of it today, but the trend is toward acceptance. It's the older generations who give the young ones the hardest time.

    Come the revolution, indeed!

  7. Great poster.

Given that straight people can get married in drive-through chapels, by Elvis impersonators and other novelty acts, and our divorce rate hovers around 50%, I don't see that gays and lesbians can do much more damage to the institution than we already have.

  10. Hi Bubs! It's karma. I just left a comment at your ramshackle compound to thank you and Amy for your super job of helping raise money for the New Orleans Public Library. Thank you once again.

    Lindy, we'll expose 'em!

  12. I think that is FAB!!! What worries me is that will be those who take it at face value.

  13. DP, surely not! Well then, they'll need to accept the Regressive Republicans name. It's part of the package.
