From CNNPolitics.com:
At a McCain rally in Davenport, Iowa, the pastor who prayed the invocation spoke these words:
“There are millions of people around this world praying to their god—whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah—that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons. And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their God is bigger than you, if that happens,” said Arnold Conrad, the former pastor of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Davenport.
Surpassing strange.
Such intolerance. I often wonder if such people have read one page of the Gospels... or even one page of history about where the "My God is bigger than your god" agenda has gotten folks in the past.
ReplyDeleteIt's OK. God will be honored, just maybe not quite in the way planned out by this person. Be careful what you pray for, guy.
Surpassing strange, but not surprising. This sort of thing has been going on for all 8 years of the Bush regime with their active encouragement.
ReplyDeleteI am so tired of these insecure christians.
ReplyDeleteHuh?
ReplyDeleteOy.
Gevalt.
And what will Pastor Conrad think? Will he convert to Islam, or to Buddhism, or to Hinduism if Obama wins?
ReplyDeleteLast I heard, Hindu was not a god, but a person who practices Hinduism. Of course, I could be wrong.
I just received an email this morning with a YouTube video titled something like "Obama makes fun of the Bible". The video consists of one or two quotes taken out of context from Obama's 2006 speech at Call to Renewal, sponsored by Jim Wallis from Sojourners. The video then goes on with voiceover and images to suggest that Obama is mocking and belittling the Bible. It looks and feels like a follow-up to Dobson's attack on Obama earlier this summer.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to intensify in the next 3 weeks.

ReplyDeleteWouldn't you know it this foolishness, this unfortunate insult to God was uttered by a man- and I'm willing to bet he's a straight man too.

Bubs, the Republicans' campaign tactics are beyond despicable. They are left with only one basic premise in their campaign, which is to instill fear of Obama into the minds of the voting public.
ReplyDeleteDavid, he may be a "straight" man, but more than one or two of the "straight" pastors who preach the loudest about the gay scourge, turn out to be closet cases.
I notice that he is a 'former' pastor. That's prolly a real good thing...
ReplyDeleteProlly....
ReplyDeleteJudith, not only listening, but loving it.
