Bishop Jack Iker of Fort Worth Inhibited

According to Katie Sherrod at Desert's Child:

Jack Iker has been inhibited from sacramental acts by the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church. He now has 60 days to recant his abandonment of the Episcopal Church. If he does not change his mind, the House of Bishops will most likely depose him at their next meeting, which means he will no longer be a bishop of the Episcopal Church.
....

Please pray for those of us who will reorganize the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth.

Katie posted a link to the letter of inhibition.

  1. And the Right Wingers are outraged that, after years and years of trashing their Church and announcing their immanent departure, the Presiding Bishop called their bluff and said "auf wieder sehen!" She had the gall to fire Bishop Iker after he quit! ...and all this from a woman!

    Is nothing sacred anymore?!

  2. CL, it's scandalous. Done in by a woman! What is the world coming to?

  3. I'm sure some in the Towers of Worth are even now singing plaintively, "Why is he so long in coming? They are gathering booty, a girl or two for each man; spoil of dyed stuff for Sisera, and embroidered apparel." Meanwhile, Jael stands tall and pround, having hammered home the tent peg.

  4. Tobias, you left out Barak. Surely he's worth a mention, all things considered.

  5. Yes, tho the Biblical Barak seems a tepid character compared to our president elect! But he and Debbie knew how to twist the knife in that old, old song!

  6. High time is all I have to say! I was appalled that his election was confirmed in the first place.

  7. And she (the PB) didn't even have to feed him (poisoned?) milk to do the deed! ;-p

  8. I am going to practice a smidge of self-discipline by refraining from comments about Iker.

    But way to go, Katherine!

  9. I can't help but find satisfaction that it's a woman who does the job. Wicked, I know, but there it is. Stuff that down your purple shirt!
