Celebrating Valentine's Day
A woman walks into a post office and notices a middle-aged,
well-dressed man standing at the counter methodically placing
"Love" stamps on bright pink envelopes with hearts all over them. As he seals
each envelop he sprays it with a puff of perfume.
The woman's curiosity gets the better of her, so she goes up to the
man and asks what he is doing. The man replies, "I'm
sending out 1,000 Valentine cards signed, 'Guess who?'"
"But why?" she asks.
"Because I'm a divorce lawyer," the man replies.
Don't blame me, blame Doug.
Contra Doug's cynicism, Grandpère gave me the flowers in the picture yesterday, enough to fill two vases. Just sayin'.
The two oil paintings are by my grandson. The fleur-de-lis is mine, and the fish is Grandpère's.

Grandmère Mimi,
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you can comment on my blog more easily now; I changed some settings, but as far as I can tell it was already open to anyone who wants to post so I don't know what's going on.
Let me know if you have further trouble, and thank you very much for the warm welcome.
Song, I was successful in leaving a comment this time. Welcome to our crazy world.
ReplyDeletePretty things and lovely flowers.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day!
The lawyer should have parcelled up those Valentines and sent them to the Postmaster at Love, Saskatchewan so that she could induct them into the mailstream with the official Love cancel.
ReplyDeleteIf he were really smart, he'd package them up and mail them to the Postmaster at Love, Saskatchewan so they could be inducted into the mail system there with the authentic Love cancel.

Oh, Malcolm, you are so right. He should have. The postmaster must get overwhelmed around Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, I love romance. How nice that GP came through with lots of flowers. Nice cards from the grandson too.
ReplyDeleteBelated happy valentines... and a big hug from Bronxward in your Louisianan direction.
ReplyDeletePaul, the "cards" are actually oil paintings from my grandson's art class from about a year and a half ago, painted especially for us.
ReplyDeleteTobias, thanks. A big southern hug back to you.
And a big southern hug to all y'all.
Love Post Office gets asked to induct about 1,000 items a year. Most of them are actually wedding invitations. (Wedding invitations come in multiples of 2-300. Most people don't send Valentines in those volumes.)
