Fats Domino - "Blueberry Hill"
I woke up this morning with "Blueberry Hill" playing in my head, over and over, and over and over. Don't get me wrong. I like Fats' "Blueberry Hill" a lot, but all day? Noooo. I post the video with the hope the song will get out of my head and onto my blog.

Bubs, what better time to grow up than the beginnings of rock 'n roll? Fats made it big, but some of the others did not. The first music performed by black artists to cross over to popularity with white teenagers was called "race music". It was a grand time for dancing.
A couple of years ago, two Episcopal deacons were handing out sandwiches in the Lower Ninth Ward. They noticed some workmen at Fats Domino's house on Caffin Ave. and knocked on the door. Fats answered. He was delighted to have the sandwiches.

ReplyDeleteOrmonde, Fats has that famous Louisiana look about him, that "I'll eat anything that don't eat me first" look.
ReplyDeleteBlueberry Hill was one of the first 45 rpm records I owned. Just sayin'.
