UPDATE: I forgot to say the parade passes on the street right in front of my church. After the 10:30 service, we have a potluck lunch and then watch the parade from there.

  1. Man that looks like a good time!

My bride and I are coming down for our first Mardi Gras (after all our other trips to LA). Sorry we won't be able to get together--it's going to be a whirlwind of parades on St Charles followed by eating a lot and roaming around the quarter.

We're staying at Le Pavillon right at Poydras and St Charles.

One of these days I want to get down there and go to all the neighborhood parades.

  2. Bubs, y'all have a great time. (I know you will) We went to NOLA for Mardi Gras the year before Katrina and stayed at the Intercontinental, right on the parade route, and had a wonderful time.

One day, we'll get together. I look forward to it.

  3. My... what a great lot of beads you've earned, Grandmere! ;)

  4. Earned, Rick? And I wasn't even trying hard.

  5. I would not doubt that for a moment, Grandmere, and would challenge to a duel any cad who claimed otherwise! :)

  6. Don't be too mad at Grandpere, Mimi: he's just too overwhelmed by your beauty, to focus properly! ;-)

  7. Yeah, yeah, JCF.

At least, I don't do boobies for beads.

  8. That's a whole lot of beads, Madame Voodoo Queen! Love the photos. Those twins are especially cute with their curly hair. Thanks for sharing the festivities with us. You know MadPriest will make fun of you but he will really be insanely jealous. ;-)

  9. I'm astounded that clairvoyancy is one of your many talents. You knew he would cut half your head off and reached out to strangle him before the photo was taken - I am impressed!

  10. Yay! We're in the midst of Carnaval here in Panamá.
I'm happy to see that you're not into that pancake-eating thing!

  11. Jane, the twins were adorable. They are the grandsons of a member of our church and live in Seattle. I believe that it was their first Mardi Gras parade.

Erika, he had done it twice before. That was his third strike, which made clairvoyance easy. He doesn't get how digital cameras work.

Padre, the fried chicken went quickly. One of the men in our church made the best chicken noodle soup that I've ever eaten. It was the perfect dish for a cold, windy day in our parts.
