Update 2 On Tigger The Cat

Tigger is now eating soft cat food on his own. He seemed to have to learn how to eat again. He also drinks on his own, in a somewhat awkward way, with a dipping motion and then licking the water from around his mouth.

My son called the vet to tell her the news, and she could not believe it. She said, "Bring Tigger in. I want to see this. He is a miracle cat." My son said, "I'll take him in, but I'm not paying for a visit." (He's close with his money.) The vet said, "Fine. I have to see him."

Thank you all for the prayers and good wishes. We're not even thinking long term, but, for now, we are happy people.

  1. Yay for Tigger! I am glad that this miracle is happening now. It can't last forever, but to enjoy a bit more life, water dipping and all, is pure gift!

  3. What great news. God has heard all the cat prayers from this corner of the universe. I actually do gather the cats, tell them of the situation and say we are now all asking God to help us.

    Go, Tigger!

  4. Maybe there's some truth to that 9 lives business after all.

See? God is a cat person.

  5. I know that cats and other animals understand that something is being asked of them, and I think whatever they do counts for a great deal.

  8. That is such great news. It even could be for longer than you are thinking. I started to tell you this when you posted about Tigger before, then decided it wasn't the right time. Anyway, my cat Chico (the one that just recently died, I'm still seeing him out of the corner of my eye) got this growth on his tongue, I didn't even notice it until he was having trouble eating and I pried his mouth open to see if he had something caught in his throat.

So we ran straight to the vet, who was all gloom and doom, but we agreed that she'd take a BIG biopsy sample, and sort of level off that place so he could eat again for a time. She warned me it would immediately grow back, that this was a temporary fix. Anyway, it did grow back, about six months later and she did the same taking the top off the tumor so he could eat again. Told me it would grow back faster probably and that he was handling the anesthesia worse each time.

It never grew back. Not ever. And it was a cancer tumor, we knew that from the first biopsy. But cancer never showed up anywhere else. That's my cat miracle story and I'm hoping you and Tigger get one like it. Me and the daughter and the dog and whatever cat is around, we pray for Tigger to be like Chico.

  10. Hi Scott. It's good to hear from you. I'm pleased that you're doing fine.

    Thanks all.

TheJanet, my other son has a Basset, Babs, who has untreatable cancer that has spread, but the old girl rocks on, apparently not in pain or distress, and eating well. Thanks for Chico's story.

  11. Thanks be to God. I know it's a precious thing to have more time with an aging and/or ailing kitty.
