According to Tim Chesterton, at To See And To Follow:
The Rev. Canon Fraser Lawton, Rector of St. Thomas' Church, Fort McMurray, was elected as Bishop of Athabasca yesterday. Pray for Fraser and the people of the Diocese of Athabasca as they minister together in northern Alberta.
The diocese in the Anglican Church of Canada was listed amongst those in the prayer on my sidebar for the election of a new bishop.
Prayers for grace-filled and fruitful ministry together in Athabasca.
ReplyDeleteI was up in that diocese this summer - It is the diocese where I was born. I took my parents back on a visit to their early parishes as well as to Peace River, where they grew up.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed a few years back by their determination to be more self-supporting (they are a Council of the North diocese). There have been some good things happening there (and some not so good things).
I knew a former parishioner of Fraser Lawton's. She spoke very highly of him.
My diocese - the Diocese of Saskatoon - will, hopefully - be electing a new bishop on November 14.
Love and Prayers,
Ann Marie
Anne Marie, I'm no longer startled by the connections that arise from internet communications. Previously, I was surprised by them, but now they've become commonplace.
ReplyDeleteLet us pray that things go well in the diocese with the new bishop.
Canon Lawton is what most would consider to be a Charismatic Evangelical, which should make House of Bishops meetings a little more lively!
ReplyDeleteCanon Lawton is what most would consider to be a Charismatic Evangelical...
ReplyDeleteIs that a good thing, Isaac?
