SAINTS MANIA SPREADS TO ST. JOHN'S
Closing hymn and beginning of Second Line. The rector's wife follows him with the umbrella. Click on the picture to see the close-up of the alternative hymn book for our closing hymn. What else?
Second Line continues.
Our rector poses in his special chasuable.
Rear view of the chasuable showing the fleur-de-lis, for which the NFL attempted to claim copyright. LOL!
More Second Line.
Our greeter all dressed up in her Saints outfit with her umbrella. Ain't she sweet?

Packing them in, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean Anonymous? Please use a name or a pseudonym if you respond.
ReplyDeleteIf you refer to the empty pews, the rector was making his second round in the church, and the pews were vacated by folks who joined the second line and folks who were leaving the church. We actually had a pretty good attendance today.
Even after a passle of Super Bowl rings, Pittsburgh becomes a sea of black and gold when the Stillers play in the big game. The Saints have every right to celebrate getting there. Prayers that the winning attitude continues to buoy New Orleans long after the final quarter, win or lose! Meanwhile, Geaux Saints!
ReplyDeleteGeaux Saints! This Superbowl is a first for the Saints and their fans, so everyone is wild.
ReplyDeleteI would have enjoyed your lovely church this morning. Love the chasuble.
ReplyDeleteGrandmere Mimi, you're not meaning to tell us with all this that you're a Saints supporter, are you?...
ReplyDeleteAmelia, you would have. I need you around more to get me to the church on time. I was late again today.
ReplyDeleteCathy, what would make you think such a thing? :-D
Hey, Anonymous, you should have come to my church. Only one parishioner (named Drew Brees) wasn't there.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, Ormonde! Tell him/her!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is "Who dat?"
ReplyDeleteLove that chasuble! I would have loved to have been there this morning!
ReplyDeleteThere may be four downs and that silly fair catch, but good for you and your Saints, Mimi.
ReplyDeleteAn all-around lovely day.
ReplyDeleteI know, Malcolm. Ours is not real football. :-)
We did the same thing at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. I decided we need to have a little fun, plus I wanted to honor my friends at St. John and St. James and St. Michael and all across south Louisiana who were rooting for the Saints. I had one lady complain that it was one of the more despicable acts of depravity that she had ever experienced at Ascension, but another lady responded to her by saying, "Most of the Christians liked it." Ouch.
ReplyDeleteHi there, Hawk. Does the church look familiar?
ReplyDeleteI had one lady complain that it was one of the more despicable acts of depravity that she had ever experienced at Ascension, but another lady responded to her by saying, "Most of the Christians liked it."
Depravity? That lady don't know depravity if she finds it in "When the Saints...." and a second line. I'm glad the Christians "got" it.
Nice to hear from you.
