Democratic state Sen. Ted Deutch has handily won the first U.S. House race since Congress passed President Barack Obama's massive health care overhaul.
With 43 percent of precincts reporting, Deutch had 62 percent of the vote compared to 36 percent for Republican Ed Lynch late Tuesday.
The Associated Press called the race about two hours after polls closed.
Yes! A Democrat replaces a Democrat.

This is a wake up call for all conservatives. We must not fall into the lull that conservatives will take any seat due to the health care debate. People must go out and vote or they will continue to damage this country.
Good sign. Republicans have been trying to panic retirees by claiming that Medicare benefits will be cut under the new system.
ReplyDeleteThe Massachusetts senatorial election was a wake-up call for the Democrats. I hope we don't fall back asleep.
ReplyDeleteYes, Lapin, there was an article on NPR a day or two ago. They interviewed several people in Florida including a woman who lived in a retirement community. She was so afraid that she had become a Tea Partier and just knew that her Medicare was in jeopardy. She was convinced that her husband's case was going to be reviewed by a death panel. On the other hand, a doctor was actually estatic that the bill had passed.
ReplyDeleteI hope more Republicans rue the day they did not support health care reform. I believe that if they try to gridlock Congress, they may all receive a shock.
ReplyDeleteReally good news and in Florida, too. I guess we grey hairs don't scare that easily.
ReplyDeleteStill can't believe that a party so deep in the pocket of the insurance companies has the gall to talk about "death panels", Susan. Guess death panels are fine, just so that they're private enterprise death panels.
ReplyDeleteGrey hairs are fine, ..it's the white hairs you have to watch out for.
ReplyDeleteWV=fornica Church Lady words!
David G., my sweet, I can always count on you to lift my spirits with a lovely compliment. :-)
