...the Rev Rob Warren interviews The Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Most Rev David Chillingworth, in which he speaks about the Anglican Covenant, the Whole Church Mission and Ministry Policy and the Gender Audit.
Bishop David warmed this American heart with his gracious words during the interview about the close relationship between the Scottish Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church in the US. I was delighted to hear that Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will be a guest at General Synod of the SEC. Ever since I learned of the history of the SEC giving us our first bishop in the Episcopal Church, Samuel Seabury, I've been forever grateful, and I'm pleased that the warm and historic ties between the two churches continue.
Bishop David's comments on Bishop Katharine's visit and the close relationship between the Scottish Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Church in the US can be heard approximately between minutes 3:33 and 6:04 on the audio.
Bishop David blogs at Thinking Aloud.
Mimi, did you intend to link to this page?
ReplyDeleteLisa, yes. I made a typo in the web address. Thanks for letting me know.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love to listen to him talk! I'm sure that he sounds Irish to the Irish, since he was born and raised there, but he did go to school in England and sounds it to me! As I continue to listen, though, I hear more and more of the Auld Sod coming out!
ReplyDeleteVW = tednes
More of the Fr. Tednes is evident in the accent of the Primus!
Susan, did Bishop David's lovely words about our church melt your heart? The ABC should take etiquette lessons from Bishop David.
ReplyDeleteOh, was he saying important things? ;-) I'll have to go back and listen again! Swoon!! Yes I know. I'm shallow.
ReplyDeleteWas that one 9 minutes long the only one? The site said something about buttons, but I saw only the one.
Susan, there's also an interview with the Standing Committee Convener, Professor Patricia Peattie.
ReplyDeleteScotland better watch out or Dr. Williams will have his attack canon send them to outer darkness. Or perhaps not.

ReplyDeleteI believe The Queen would would have a few things to say about that, ...and they wouldn't be enlightening...More like Lightening and Thunder!!
Perhaps not, I wonder how many MPs in the House of Commons are Scottish Episcopal either by belief or upbringing. Having the ABC attack their church might bring questions in Parliament (and Parliament still wields a pretty big club [such as maybe removing the bishops from the House of Lords]).
ReplyDeleteWe mustn't forget that the SEC is not the established church. The Queen is NOT the head of their church, and, as Erp says, the English Lord Bishops' seats in Parliament are under threat.
