YA GOTTA LOVE THE ALASKANS

From the The Huffington Post:

Don't worry about the oil spilling into the Gulf, Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) says, because the worst spill in U.S. history is "not an environmental disaster," just nature taking its course.

"This is not an environmental disaster, and I will say that again and again because it is a natural phenomenon," Young said after Congressional hearings last week. "Oil has seeped into this ocean for centuries, will continue to do it. During World War II there was over 10 million barrels of oil spilt from ships, and no natural catastrophe. ... We will lose some birds, we will lose some fixed sealife, but overall it will recover."

One might think that ignorance in Congress critters had its limits, but one would be wrong.

  2. I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that in the Huffington Post. To equate oil "seeping" to this disaster is disgusting prevarication.

  4. I just don't think I can stand seeing those majestic pelicans dying miserable, oily deaths. God save us from our insane addiction and scandalous stewardship of Her creation.

  5. Whoring is bred in the bone with these people, isn't it? Every day I am reminded of Lenin's observation as to who will sell the rope to hang next-to-the-last capitalist.

  6. I want to look away from the horror of the pictures of God's creatures so callously abused, but we must look upon what we have wrought.

  7. Cameron, the director of "Avatar" and "Titanic," has worked extensively with robot submarines and is considered an expert in undersea filming.

That is Cameron's expertise. I posted this half-jokingly, but considering BP's history, I'm thinking Cameron's ideas might help.

  8. I can't bear looking at that bird.

I think we ought to drop Don Young out of a helicopter into the worst-affected part of the Gulf of Mexico, and see what he says then.

  9. I am trying to recall who said first that "you can educate ignorant but stupid is forever."

  10. Cathy, yes. Let's see how Don would like being covered with oil slime.

Jim, Young gets a lot of money from the oil companies, and he lives far away from the Gulf, so I expect he doesn't care. And you're right; he's probably uneducable.

  13. You posted the photograph that defies all words.

    It all does.

The name of your blog takes on a wholly different meaning in light of the obscenity that is happening in your waters.
