Enneagram Test Results

Certain of the results seem right to me, and others not quite right. My Main Type surely gives fodder to those who wish to criticize me. How can I have a tendency to be domineering tyrant and, at the same time, score high on compliant traits and low on assertive traits? Well, it's only a test.
I know that the test is old hat to most of you, and I'm trailing far behind.
Doorman-Priest's sermon on Martha and Mary inspired me to take the test.
I am not a fan of enneagram - seems like so much woo woo to me -- I know others don't feel that way - but it seems too much like astrology - you can read yourself into whatever you like.
ReplyDeleteThe Enneagram has been a great gift in my own life, but I can see why Ann might feel otherwise. There is a lot of stuff out there that makes it woo woo.
ReplyDeleteThe tests are fine but honestly there can be no real test for this if used with a spiritual director.
Of course, as someone who loves all these tests, I take many of them and it often gifts a some insight. I think the best thing is Myers-Brigg for this sort of thing.
Mimi, I would have called you an 8 all along and I say that with a lot of love. There is no "bad" number.
I myself am a 4.
That site has a lot of tests. That sort of thing can prove very distracting.
ReplyDeleteI've never really come across Enneagrams before. I know Myer-Briggs.
Mimi, I would not have remotely said you were a tyrant.
I am so glad I subscribed to the comments because I really didn't read the description.
ReplyDeleteTyrant! Hardly! Some 8's can be, but not you.
See, the first flaws of the online tests appear. What I see is the fighting for the little guy and justice pieces. A good 8 is never at rest for that reason. Although it can be exhausting for the 8 themselves!
The test is only one page, so it can hardly be a true, in-depth measure of anything. I've taken the Myers-Briggs test twice a good many years apart, and the results were the same both times - INFP - and the classification seemed realistic to me.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the Martha/Mary contrast, I'd be Mary - no question about it. When I have guests, I forget to be the host, because I get absorbed in the conversations.
As to the tyrant characterization - well - I have my moments, but, as I've grown older, I have fewer tyrannical episodes.
Fran, I'm delighted that you are home. My prayers for you continue.
ReplyDeleteINFP!! Me too!!!
ReplyDeleteIn my case it is exactly right.
Cathy, birds of a feather....
ReplyDeleteIndeedy!
ReplyDeleteme too..INFP that is...
ReplyDeleteI am ENFP myself!
ReplyDeleteTom is ESTJ, different from me on all counts. We sometimes clash....
ReplyDeleteINTP, about as T as you can be.
ReplyDelete5 on the Enneagram.
Libra.
Tiger,in Chinese astrology. This is supposed to be a good year for me.
ok done the Enneagram and like IT I am a 5, and a Libran.
ReplyDeleteIT, I'm not the least surprised that you're a strong T.
ReplyDeleteY'all are in with Einstein, Hawking, and Bill Gates. Of course, IT, you could yet win the Nobel in one of the sciences.
I'm Virgo, and the description of personality traits on the astrology sites does not really fit. I'll take Myers-Briggs.
