JCF, I feel a certain compassion for Bishop Long, too, but remember he preached to his flock that the biblical penalty for gay sex is death. Remember Jesus' words for the hypocrites amongst the Jewish religious leaders? They are harsh. It's the hypocrisy.
Also, Long's position as a shepherd of the flock makes him more accountable for taking advantage of the youths in the congregation.
There's a part of me---the Christian compassion side---that finds this really sad.
ReplyDeleteThen there's the Angry Queer side of me, yelling "HA-ha!"

Bishop Long won't be Bishop for long, then.
ReplyDeleteCathy, the lower the humor, the more I laugh. Thanks for a good laugh. I am a simple person with a simple mind.
ReplyDeleteBoth sides of me say, "couldn't have happened to a nicer guy."
ReplyDeleteCounterlight, why so many? Why don't they learn?
ReplyDeleteThanks for a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so glad you laughed! You're very welcome. I don't think however that you do have a simple mind, Mimi :-)
Oh but I do have a simple mind, Cathy, but I'm good at faking complexity.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that's even possible. I remain unconvinced.
