HOUNDED BEYOND THE GRAVE

From The Indy Channel:
Homophobic hate messages were left Thursday on a memorial page set up for Billy Lucas, a Greensburg High School student who killed himself last week after being mercilessly bullied, friends said.

Numerous images were uploaded to a Facebook group, giving visitors a taste of the kind of hate Lucas endured, friends said.

The messages chided the teen about defending himself and made attacks on his presumed sexuality, 6News' Joanna Massee reported.

No respite from the hate even in the grave.

  1. Nothing rational to see. The passage from Matthew's Gospel comes to mind:

Then he called the crowd to him and said to them, ‘Listen and understand: it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles.’

I wonder if any of the haters call themselves Christians.

  2. It is sad, yet he is safe from the haters in the arms of the One who created him exactly the way he was and who loves him exactly the way he is.

  3. "And the disciples said to him, Lord when did we see you [persecuted]." As a society and nation, we have much to be ashamed.

  4. These homophobes are unbelievable. The same type that posts rants in the comments to any articles about GLBT people in the on line press.

  5. Yes, Amelia, Billy is now safe, as he could not be in this life.

It's sickening, just sickening that people choose to find meaning for their lives in hating and abusing "the other".

  6. Prayers ascending for Billy - and for us all!

  7. Reminded of another of my mother's sayings, "They could use a good case of killin'."

Sorry, but I just don't think people that vile and cowardly have a "right to life."

  8. Mark, to respond to violence with more violence is not the way. Let's put our energy into seeking just laws and just enforcement of the laws.

  9. That's a lovely theory, Mimi, but I haven't seen it work.

Sometimes, mad dogs have to be put down, and these creatures have forfeited their humanity.
