PLEASE PRAY FOR JCF'S FRIEND CATHY

JCF said...

I think of my friend Cathy, fighting her Stage 4 Cancer, w/ anemia-inducing (and of course, hair-losing) chemo.
....

[I know I don't have to ask y'all, but please keep praying for Cathy (currently awaiting the results of an MRI, to see if there are any brain mets).

I'll see her in early October (long enough after this month's chemo, but before next month's), if she's up to it.

She's the strongest person I know.]

O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers: Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to your servant Cathy the help of your power, that her sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  1. Thanks so much.

I just don't understand how a person can go through so much (Lung Cancer, diagnosed at Stage 4. She has never smoked. "Non-smoking" lung cancer is often caught very advanced, BECAUSE it's not expected), and yet be so positive, grace-filled?

[Over on the website where we first met, on her cancer thread, she's usually the person encouraging the rest of us!]

Thank you, everybody, for your prayers.

  3. Thank you all, again.

[FWIW, Cathy's coming up on the 2nd anniversary of her SURVIVAL, so that's something to look forward to.]

  6. JCF, thank you for the prayers. My anniversary is right around this time, too. I don't remember the exact date of my diagnosis, but this fall marks the 26th year of survival - a good run, for sure.

  8. Wot Cathy said.

Some good news from Cathy (my friend suffering from lung cancer Cathy, or "Cath"):

I received a message from my oncologist yesterday afternoon (Monday) and the MRI I took last week shows no current evidence of brain mets!

I'm battling the side effects of last Friday's chemo, but the MRI news has been a relief and a morale boost.

JCF: Yes, I'm coming on the second anniversary of the diagnosis of Stage IV Non-small cell lung cancer in a nonsmoker. I'm glad of the anniversary, but would sure as hell rather be celebrating a different topic. Thank you.

Yay, no brain mets! [I really can't IMAGINE anything more terrifying, than having one's cancer spread to the brain :-( ]

If any of y'all want to read Cathy's entire Cancer Story, it begins here. [It's on a Xena-based board, though, so be prepared for a lot of references to The Warrior Princess! :-)]
