What a sorry-assed, clapped-out old hack McCain is.
On the "Cold Day in Hell" front, it's astonishing that Chamblis could being himself to say what he said.
I'd hope that the outing long rumored to be hanging over Lidnsey Graham's head would finally materialize, except that in South Carolina we'll undoubtedly get someone far worse (think De Mint!) next time around.
Lapin, as I said in another comment thread, my eyes nearly rolled out of my head as I watched Lindsey Graham's little speech. You're right. SC would probably get someone much worse as a replacement, if he left the Senate.
I can't think what amendments would be offered to the legislation.
At the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing today on the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) expressed his concern that repealing the rule would pave the way for allowing "alcohol use, adultery, fraternization, and body art" in the military -- and that the army must "exclude persons whose presence in the armed forces would create unacceptable risk to the armed forces' high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion."
And then the final vote to repeal. Oddly two who voted against cloture nevertheless voted for repeal.
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo
A lovely Christmas present from Congress. They needed to do something to redeem themselves.
