May all who died serving their country rest in peace and rise in glory.

May God give comfort, consolation, and the peace that passes understanding to those who love the departed service members.

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  1. Mimi, thanks for doing this. It seems the media can hardly be bothered to mention that Americans have died in Afghanistan or Iraq nowadays, much less give their names; the only program I know that does so is ABC's This Week. The rest is--silence.

BTW, that's Fall River in the singular. Home of a large population descended from Portuguese/Azorean immigrants (of which I suspect the Goncalo family is probably typical).

Kishnevi, we must not be silent. Attention must be paid!

  4. As you know, Mimi, I have failed to keep up my listing the names (and mounting toll). I appreciate your post very much. We must not forget.
