  1. One little square to the right of you, otherwise identical

  2. Half a square up, two to the right, but still left moderate social libertarian.

    ReplyDelete
  3. So far, we're clumped together. Birds of a feather....

    ReplyDelete
  4. Far left social moderate.

Right on the line between authoritarian and libertarian, but as far left as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ha! The way you boss me around I'd have put you right up and off the graph ABOVE the word "Authoritarian."

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm right on the line between authoritarian and libertarian too (which gave me a fright), and half a square to the left of Mimi. Which makes me a left social moderate, apparently.

    ReplyDelete
  7. MadPriest, take the test, and let us know where your x lands. Inquiring minds want to know.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Cathy, why did landing on the line give you a fright?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I don't know, I saw the word "authoritarian" and thought "oh noes! I'm Mussolini!" Then I realised he probably wouldn't have been so far left, but then I thought, "oh noes! I'm Stalin!" It's all right, I've calmed down now.

    ReplyDelete
  10. MadPriest is "far-left moderate social libertarian", only one and a half squares away from me to the left, which I find a little scary.

I didn't take the test for him, but I post his results for him. His shyness, you know....

    ReplyDelete
  11. All right! Stalin, it is Cathy. Whatever you say.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It's okay Mimi, I'm not Stalin, that's Mark Brunson, obviously. I'm less far-left than him so maybe I'm more Trotsky?

I think I prefer the word "interventionist" to "authoritarian". They're not quite the same thing and how interventionist you think government should be seemed to be what the quiz was going on about.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Authoritarian - You're an Australian woman so what did you expect? I've watched "Kath and Kim" - Stalin was a pussy compared to them.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thanks Mad One, I am of course chuffed to hear that you think I am, as an Australian woman, more extreme than Stalin :-)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Stalin in a really bad mood.

But nowhere near as authoritarian as that Grandmère Mimi of whom Attila the Hun once said, "Pleeeease, keep that woman away from me!"

    ReplyDelete
  16. The graph doesn't lie, MadPriest. I'm right there with you on the authoritarian/libertarian line, which, as I've already said, is frightening. I probably won't sleep tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  17.      I came in the same on the Libertarian scale as you, but a little more liberal to the left. Actually, what surprised me is I wasn't in the lower left-hand square. Guess I'm not as edgy as I thought. Rats!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Rick, I also placed closer to the line of authoritarian territory than I expected. Curious.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't think libertarian necessarily equates to edgy.

Anyway, Mimi, apparently I'm Stalin and you're Attila. So, that's good to know :-) That's how we rate on the MadPriest-O-Meter.

    ReplyDelete
  20. No, Cathy. Will you please pay attention. Mimi is much worse than Attila.

    ReplyDelete
  21. the one he doesn't want near him.

    Only because you scare him.

    ReplyDelete
  22. He he he! You're right, Mimi - I stand corrected.

    It's good, isn't it :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Life would be very dull sometimes without the MadPriest-O-Meter to liven it up.

    ReplyDelete
  24. it's good, isn't it :-)

It is if you wish to conquer Central Asia and most of Western Europe..

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mimi is much worse than Attila.

I've already said that. Did it really call for repeating, MadPriest?

Of course, that's simply your wrongheaded opinion. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Not wrongheaded but polite. I thought it would be rude to insist on saying "much, much worse."

    ReplyDelete
  27. Mimi, I'm happy to have a go with you at conquering central Asia and eastern Europe. What do you say? It could liven up the long winter evenings.

    ReplyDelete
  28.      I'd like to point out that you can also create your own quiz at this website you linked us to. Perhaps you could come up with a quiz to determine "How Mad a Priest Are You?" or "How Serious a Blogger Are You?" or "How Much of a Fan of Mad Priest Are You?" or "Are You More like Mad Priest or Grandmère Mimi?"

Oh, I think this just got interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm a lot more like MadPriest than I am like Grandmère Mimi.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well I don't know Mad One, you've never been seen in the same room together, except by me, and I'm happy to lie about that, and Mrs MP, who I'm sure won't spill the beans either.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hurrah! Today Wounded Bird - tomorrow the world!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. All is revealed. I am MadPriest. Why do you think no one ever sees MadPriest?

    ReplyDelete
  33. We knew that anyway. You know what, I'm sure MadPriest has claimed that before. He said absolutely everyone who comments at OCICBW is actually Mimi, including him, except for Dah-veed who is a woman called Jane from Tunbridge Wells.

    ReplyDelete
  34. That thought has worn out my poor brain, I have to sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  35.      This explains so much, like MadPriest's strange penchant for Bougainvillea aftershave.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Rick, I nearly choked from laughing at that one. What are you trying to do? Kill an old lady?

    ReplyDelete
  37. What are you trying to do? Kill an old lady?

The cheques in the post, Rick+.

  38.       You guys are a terrible influence! I'm having way too much fun, but I'm supposed to be working on a class I'm teaching at church tonight. I think I'll quit before I get into any more trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Economic issues: +6.93 left
    Social issues: +1.2 libertarian
    Foreign policy: +4 non-interventionist
    Cultural identification: +5.12 liberal

    Oooooo!

    ReplyDelete
  40. You guys are a terrible influence!

Rick, I know. And you an priest!

theme, you must have taken more than one test, but I'm not at all surprised at your results.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I see. I left off some of my results, which I have now added in an update.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Okay, first . . . I do resent being compared to Stalin, even though it's a joke. I would like to send my enemies to a desolate, frozen hellhole to work them to death, but have the compassion and self-awareness not to. I know I could be Stalin, and that's why I'm not.

Second, Cathy, of course we are authoritarian - but more like Paul, you know, "God's given me this great authority - it's God not me what's done it - and if I have to - and I don't want to, because I'm so humble, humble, humble, but God gave me the authority to - I'll come there to Corinth and putta da holy smackdown on you . . . in all humility, because God gave me the power, not men, and I don't have to justify myself to you, you lowly, wormheaded, beloved children of mine, because I'm such a humble guy."

    ReplyDelete
  43. Mark, calm down, luv. I note your resentment. Take a deep breath, and have pity on me. I'm called worse than Attila the Hun.

    ReplyDelete
  44.      Yeah, but Attila didn't have one nth of your fashion sense, Grandmère.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Attila was okay.

I'm not really upset with anyone, just distressed because I could so easily be a Stalin.

I have a lot of hate and anger there.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Awww...thanks, Rick.

Did you make copies of this comment thread and hand them out to your class....to show them what classy people you hang out with?

I have a lot of hate and anger there.

No! Mark, I'd never have known.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Mark, I apologise unreservedly for upsetting you, it was a joke but it's a bit like bandying round the name of Hitler for comic purposes, you have to be a bit careful. I don't personally think you could be Stalin though. But that's just my thought. Anyway, I'm sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Cathy,

You have nothing to apologize for!

You did not upset me - it's important you understand me - I became upset because I see how vicious and selfish I could be, given Stalin's power - Mimi has often called me on some of my grander and more draconian visions to see their logical conclusions. I said I "resented" the comparison, but that was a poorly-chosen word; it would be more appropriate to say I was uneasy with the comparison.

I suppose I reacted as I did because I've come to realize that, in order to find Truth, the lies I tell myself are the ones that have to die first.

On a lighter note: notice that though you and I are comparatively more authoritarian, we are, in fact, perfectly balanced between authoritarian and libertarian.

As I always suspected - we are perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I've come to realize that, in order to find Truth, the lies I tell myself are the ones that have to die first.

Mark, I suspect a good many of us would be the better if we took the words to heart.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I guess I did miss my cue but I was already asleep :-(

Anyway, I am glad Mark is not as distressed by my joke as I thought he was.

    ReplyDelete
  51. PS I have been reflecting on Mark's thought that he and I are perfect. It strikes me that he is right :-) This has cheered me up. Thanks Mark.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Left moderate social libertarian.
    Left: 7.38, Libertarian: 3.3

I am slightly further to the left and slightly further down the libertarian scale. I am also a non-interventionist and a cultural liberal.

We're pretty much the same on these scales.

    ReplyDelete
  53. If I ever knew two perfect people, they would be Cathy and Mark.

BooCat, think of it: not a single soul from the right half of the graph, and only a couple of borderline authoritarians. But then, the two are perfect, so we are not to worry.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thank you Mimi. You can rely on me and Mark, eh :-)

    ReplyDelete
  55. You can rely on me and Mark, eh :-)

Oh, yes. We can certainly rely on you two.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thanks, Mad One. I knew you would agree.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Cathy, I agree with MadPriest. We are greatly indebted to you and Mark for an being an example of perfection to us all.
