Earlier I posted a prayer request for Olga, Fran's sister-in-law, who is gravely ill. Fran appealed for a kind-hearted dog-lover to make a home for Olga's Jack Russell, Skittles. Renz, of Renz in the Woods, offered to take Skittles, but a relay of drivers is needed to get Skittles near enough to Renz for him to pick her up. The dog pictured is not Skittles, just a picture of a Jack Russell in the event you're not familiar with the breed.

Mimi, thank you so much for spreading the word, I am quite happy to report that we have a complete route put together for Saturday, so please simply pray for Skittles for a safe journey.

Checking the route I see that I, down here in SC, can be no more use than you can. Sorry.

ReplyDeleteI suggest Fran talk to the local Jack Russell Rescue. They may well have ways to help get Skittles moved.

ReplyDeleteStart with the nearest sizable private animal rescue organization - either end - they'll almost certainly be able to point you in the right direction.

ReplyDeleteThe airlines accidentally kill more animals than you would realize. The cargo holds depressurize and the animals die from lack of oxygen. It is by no means a frequent problem but more of an issue than they let on.
Further, auto transport (though forbidden by some rescue groups) is IMHO a much less stressful ordeal for the animal than being locked in a crate for many hours. There are very limited flights to the U.P. so this wouldn't be just a simple couple few hours in the belly of a plane.
