ZACH WAHLS SPEAKS ABOUT FAMILY

Zach Wahls, a 19-year-old University of Iowa student spoke about the strength of his family during a public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 in the Iowa House of Representatives. Wahls has two mothers, and came to oppose House Joint Resolution 6 which would end civil unions in Iowa.

From On Top:
The Iowa House on Tuesday approved a bill that seeks to repeal gay marriage in the state, the AP reported.

How sad. Zach Wahls' words will live on toward a better day.

  2. The legislature then proceeded to pass their hateful law. Zach is a fine witness who will inspire many. And seeds once sown can bear fruit eventually.

  3. Oh, Paul, I had not yet heard that they passed the Joint Resolution. I will never understand that kind of thinking. Zach Wahls spoke so powerfully but their minds were already closed to facts or reason. How sad is that.

  4. Ah, I did not know the legislation had passed. How sad. Nevertheless, Zach's words will live on and bear fruit.

  5. I wonder about those who entered civil unions in Iowa. Will their's stand or be null and void? I know a couple.... :-(

  6. How wantonly cruel (the legislation, that is).

  7. Check the date (and the state) of the article - 2005 (not 2011) and Ohio (not Iowa). Things still aren't great in Ohio, tho there are some bright spots (more municipalities and workplaces are recognizing partnerships).

  8. Here’s a TV interview we just did with Zach Wahls where he talks about what it was like growing up with two mothers, what led him to decide to go and speak before the House of Representatives, how his life has changed after being thrust into the public eye, and what other young people can do to fight for equality and speak out against intolerance.
