BACK TO FIREFOX FROM CHROME

Tonight I switched browsers from Google Chrome back to Firefox. When I first downloaded Google Chrome, it was fast and easy to use. But recently it slowed down, and suddenly I was not able to view videos at all. I could see them on Internet Explorer, and now I can play them on Firefox.

I spent most of the day trying to fix the problem, even to uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, and then decided I'd had enough. We shall see how it goes with Firefox. I was never really that dissatisfied with it, but I'd heard how great Google Chrome was, which it was for a while, but I want my videos.

  1. I still use good ol' IE for usual browsing, Firefox for downloading (and for certain sites which seem to--- $%^&#&!! ---crash IE)

  2. JCF, I'm told that IE has a new version coming out that is getting good reviews. I always keep IE loaded for certain specific purposes.

  3. I never got to grips with Chrome and I dislike how Firefox handles RSS feeds, so I use IE all the time and keep Firefox for certain purposes and as a backup when IE has a crashy-phase.

  4. We Mac folks cannot use IE. I seem to have little or no problems with Safari. Wishing you the best with Firefox.

  5. Lucky you, whiteycat. After one of the upgrades last year my Safari ceased working altogether. Fortunately I had Firefox and now it is all I use. I enjoyed using both depending on what I was doing.

  6. None of the browsers is perfect for everyone. Our computer is old and needs work. We'll try first sending it to the hospital, and if they can't cure it, we'll buy a new one. I hope the present computer will work as a back-up once all my stuff is wiped off. Perhaps it will be good enough for Grandpère to use, because he's not on the computer all that much. We shall see. In the meantime, we're creeping along.

  7. I use Safari, and Firefox is installed on my iMac, but I don't like the way it looks and I would only use it in an emergency. Thank the Lord that emergency hasn't reared it's ugly head so far.

  8. I had the problem of not being able to view videos, no matter how I configured it, when I had Firefox. Finally my computer completely crashed and had to be reformatted. Since then I have stuck with IE. Version 8 seems to work well. Thanks for the Chrome info. I was toying with the notion of downloading it. Now I won’t.

  9. Chrome takes getting used to, whereas IE and Firefox are similar in operation. I may give more attention to IE.

  10. I like Firefox myself. Chrome is fine though. I don't like IE at all.

how much stuff do you have to back up? You could use DropBox, which is an online system for synchronising files between 2 computers and for file sharing but it works just as well as backup. Up to 2 GB are free.

And it's absolutely instantaneous, the second you change a document it's backed up while you're changing it.

You can access your files from any computer with Internet access.

  12. Erika, the reviews of DropBox are very favorable. I spent the better part of Wednesday wrestling with Chrome, and I'm not in the mood for tackling another internet chore at the moment. Thanks for the info on DropBox. I may decide to use it when I've recovered.
