PRIORITIES!

From TVNEWSER:
The Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton is expected to be a huge television draw next month, so all news organizations are spending significant resources on covering the event.

We already reported that MSNBC was sending Martin Bashir and Chris Jansing and that BBC America would be simulcasting BBC One’s coverage, but in this morning’s Wall Street Journal, some other interesting details were uncovered.

Among them: CNN will have 400 staffers covering the wedding, including cameramen, reporters and producers.

Which, of course, makes perfect sense, because there is nothing much happening in the rest of the world.

O wait!
By comparison, the Journal compares that to the number of staffers CNN has in Japan at the moment: 50.

  1. The Ordination of the new Bishop of Western New York will take place that weekend, but the Palace neglected to check on that.

  2. Daniel, the clash in scheduling is most inconvenient. The palace will not be amused that the ordination will distract the attention of the people of the diocese from the Royal Wedding.

  3. Meanwhile the number of overseas holidays that Britons have booked over the weekend of the royal wedding has shot up exponentially. I hope they're not all planning to head to the US, where it will obviously be impossible to escape from reportage on the nuptials.

  4. I will arrive in Europe the day before but have decided to head for Paris rather than try to find a bed in London and probably end up on the street. I plan to reach London 3 weeks later after the excitement dies down. Meanwhile Prince William, but not Kate, was 300 km away yesterday at the memorial service in Christchurch. His presence was very much appreciated.

  5. Brian, you made a wise decision to avoid London around the time of the wedding. Enjoy your travels!
