QUESTION OF THE DAY
Why is it that in discussions and negotiations within Congress and with the administration on balancing the budget and where cuts will be made so little attention is given to the cost in lives and treasure of the several wars in which the US is presently engaged?
Good question.

ReplyDelete"Wag the Dog", Mimi.
ReplyDeleteSaw your comment over at DSM about having a humorous gathering. How have you been?
Hi Cynthia. I am fine. How are you?
ReplyDelete"Wag the Dog" is right.
Do you think the humorous gathering will come to be? I limited myself to New Orleans, but that's not set in stone.
I'm doing well. Coming to the end of an interim pastorate in June. Right now I'm performing in a play: The Odd Couple (female version)
ReplyDeleteI'm sad that the Obama administration is playing the same games that have always been played, and on the American people. I thought things were going to change, but change is sometimes slow.
I hope there will be a gathering, although any opportunity for laughter is appreciated. A UCC pastor here in CT is holding a gathering in May about humor in ministry.
Cynthia, I can see how The Odd Couple with two women could be very funny.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, we received our first appeal in the mail for a campaign contribution from the Obama people. What to do? I'll think about that tomorrow.
Our priest is retiring in June, and we're searching for a new rector. Our first attempt didn't work out. I wish we had enough money to hire an interim, but our budget is pretty deeply in the red. I believe that having a transitional clergy person is the best way to go, however, we manage to do pretty well as a congregation with supply priests for services during the interim.
By the way, we have friends in Newtown CT, which is not far from Bridgeport.
How about that? I live in Monroe, just south of Newtown. If you're ever in the neighborhood...
ReplyDeleteCynthia, we do visit back and forth from time to time. I'll let you know if we're in the vicinity.
