...Tom, aka Grandpère. Poor baby has an abscessed tooth. Our dentist saw him this morning and gave him antibiotics, but he doesn't do the kind of work Tom needs. If he can stand the pain, he will wait until Tuesday to see another dentist in town. If the pain gets too bad, he can see someone in the next town over on Monday.
UPDATE: Tom saw the endodontist this morning, who discovered that he had two abscesses, instead of one. The endodontist did two root canals, and he (Tom) is feeling much better. I'm sure the endodontist is feeling much better, too, because he make quite a bit of money off Tom. Still, we're not complaining.
Poor Tom!!! Make him take the antibiotic! It will help immensly with the pain, eventually(prolly by tomorrow). And if there is something as strong as vicodin, give him some of that too. But don't let him drive if he takes it.
ReplyDeleteBeen there a few times -- not a favorite thing. At least it is time limited.
ReplyDeletePrayers for you too, Mimi. Hurting men are not easy to live with.
ReplyDeleteIf the pain gets really bad, Tom can call the dentist, who is a friend of ours, and he will call in a prescription for pain meds to tide him over.
ReplyDeletePiskie, you're not telling me anything I don't know. :-)
Also, I have pains pills which are 9 years old, from when I broke my shoulder, and from what I've read on the internet, they probably still have some potency.
Ouchie! That's not good - prayers from here!
ReplyDeletePrayers for him...and for you, dear Mimi.
ReplyDeleteFrom a man of minimal denture...I reccomend sipping whiskey... sipping (not drinking especially with pain meds)... alternated with ice water...usually provides enough numbing to ensble relaxation and sleep.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prayers for both of us, dear friends.
ReplyDeletetheme, man of minimal denture, I'll pass on your remedy.
Would you like a long prayer or an ejaculation?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, prayers for you both.
Go out to the shed. Find the tool box. Locate the pliers ...
ReplyDeletePoor Tom. Dental pain is the WORST!
Lucky me, I've never had an abscessed tooth, but I have had other tooth pain, and it's no fun.
ReplyDeleteTom is not a good patient. This morning, he did not want to take his antibiotic, because the pill was too big. I had to get stern with him. "Go get the bleeping pill and a large glass of water, and swallow the bleeping thing right now!" And he did. Men!
Pauvre Grandpère. Been there, suffered that. He has my total sympathy and prayers. Antibiotic will help. My endodontist gave me a prescription for 800mg ibuprofen (Rx-strength Motrin). If your tummy can handle it, one of those plus two extra strength Tylenol were as good for me as the controlled substances (Vicodin or Percocet) without the hazard of being too doped to drive to work. I pass it on to Tom.
ReplyDeleteOh noes!! How is he feeling today?? ... :(
ReplyDeleteHope he's better today - that can be very painful!
ReplyDeleteTom is poorly today but not in raging pain, TBTG.
ReplyDeletePaul, he is using extra-strength Tylenol, but he won't take two. He's very reluctant about medication.
I told him about my 9 year old pain meds, and he said I was crazy, if I thought he was going to take them.
Oh, Mimi, my Tom is the same way. If 2 will make the pain go away, then just take 1 and complain. Crush 2 up in a Tablespoon of pudding and make him swallow it. I wouldn't recommend that with the antibiotic, but refusing to take 2 tylenol is just silly! I'll pray for you, tho! I feel your pain, but there's no excuse for his! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with them, susan s.? Tylenol?
ReplyDeleteI know, Mimi! Gee Whiz!! Did the dentist think he would have to have a root canal, or will they just pull it? In either case, he'll want something that Tylenol for that pain! ;-)
ReplyDeleteErm, that should be "he will want something more than Tylenol for that pain." I wish I could actually type, or at least proof read before I hit 'publish!'
ReplyDeleteThe tooth needs to be capped, but first he will need the root canal. For some reason, all Tom's front teeth are worn down and discolored. His uppers are already capped, but I had to practically force him to have them done. They looked terrible.
ReplyDeleteAs for the lower teeth, once you have one tooth capped, the others look really bad, so you end up having them all done - which is what he needs to do.
susan s., sometimes I wonder why I bother with preview.
{{{Grandpere}}}
ReplyDeleteI added an update to my post. Tom is feeling much better after his visit to the endodontist.
ReplyDeleteSo these are lower fronts then? The pain will be lots less than if they were uppers or molars. Those things are so expensive! I had one and paid about $1500.00!
ReplyDeletesusan s., one was a front tooth, and the other was further in the back.
