Rep. Michele Bachmann kicked off her presidential campaign on Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, and in one interview surrounding the official event she promised to mimic the spirit of Waterloo's own John Wayne. The campaign should be fun, unless the electorate goes completely crazy and elects Bachmann.
The only problem, as one eagle-eyed reader notes: Waterloo's John Wayne was not the beloved movie star, but rather John Wayne Gacy, the serial killer.
In case you wonder, John Wayne, the movie actor, was born in Iowa but in Winterset, Iowa, so it's an easy mistake to make, right? Except it's best not to make the mistake in Waterloo. Will the mistake be Bacnmann's Waterloo? Of course not.
So what happened to Sarah Palin? Have we finished with the rich seam of humour there?
ReplyDeleteThis really is TOO funny! Could be she'll be up to the goal she sets herself.
ReplyDeleteBwwwwahhhhaaaa!!!!

From the Borowitz Report:
ReplyDeleteIn Major Gaffe, Bachmann Confuses Ass, Hole in Ground
Misspeaks about Grand Canyon
Go read it all.
There's also an excellent article in Rolling Stone about her: http://bit.ly/jx8Eut "Bachmann's Holy War."

Lori, thanks for the link. I read the entire article. It seems when the "elitists" laugh at Bachmann, she gets ever more popular with "her" people. What are we to do?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that, it being Bachmann, she didn't mean John Wayne's great victory over Hitler at the Battle of Waterloo, which did happen because she seen it one night on the tv after she came home from drinking wood alcohol.
ReplyDeleteOr did Bachmann see it all in a vision?
