From the
Telegraph:
Following an emergency EU meeting of foreign ministers on the situation in Libya, Mr Hague was asked if Britain, or other Western countries, knew if Col. Gaddafi had left Tripoli.
“About whether Col. Gaddafi, is in Venezuela, I have no information that says he is although I have seen some information that suggests he is on his way there,” he said.
British officials stressed that Mr Hague was referring “not to media reports but information from other channels”. “This is credible information,” said a diplomat.
Pray for the people of Libya.
O God, you have bound the people of Libya together in a common life. Help them, in the midst their struggles for justice and truth, to confront one another without hatred or bitterness, and to work together with mutual forbearance and respect. Amen.
H/T to David at Facebook.
Venezuela is a wonderful place...filled with vitality, color, fabulous food/fashion, attractive people/passion...doesn´t seem like a fit to me (except Hugo Chavez may think it will piss the U.S. off).
ReplyDeleteLeonardo, Chavez has denied that Gaddifi is headed for Venezuela. The situation remains quite fluid. We shall see.
ReplyDeleteAmen to the prayer for the people of Libya.
ReplyDeleteIf, as seems not unlikely, Chavez is not long for this world, then what?
ReplyDeleteSo much for fighting to the "last drop of blood". Not Ghaddafi's blood, obviously.
More interesting to watch will be if this tips the balance in Syrian affairs.
ReplyDeleteReports indicate that three of Ghaddafi's sons have now been captured. Seems his family was not among of his priorities. The collapse can hardly have come as much of a surprise, given that for several weeks western politicians have been confidently predicting it before the end of August.
