HELP!

Who will come to my house and help me set up my new computer? I look at the parts to assemble the monitor stand, which are only about three in number, and I already feel defeated.

I revise my original question: Who will come to my house to set up my computer for me? If you're going to ask, ask big.

  1. If you can get the monitor together, you just have to plug wires in by the color. Good luck!

  2. Piskie, I know, and I've done it before, but it appears a daunting task to me.

  3. You could pay for my flight and I could come down and take care of that for you, OR the nice boys and girls in the Geek Squad can assist.

  4. KJ, I'll start saving, luv. Once you've done your job, we'll show you around south Louisiana.

  5. Not as cheap as KJ but the offer's the same!

  6. Well, the purchases are still sitting there. I haven't had the courage to tackle the tasks yet. I hope this is the last computer I'll have to buy in my life.

I thought surely some blog friend would be willing to sacrifice and go the distance for me.

  7. Well.... I wish I were within 500 miles --I'd be there yesterday! On the other hand, --Grandmere, I have full confidence in your abilities. Truly.

Besides, the worst that can happen is that you cross the wires, burn up the computer and blow the circuit breakers and cause much of the Gulf Coast to go into a black out....

--but then, you could go buy a Mac!

  8. margaret, I can do it, and I will when I have the proper mindset.

--but then, you could go buy a Mac!

And didn't I know that was coming! What is it with you Mac zealots? It doesn't matter to me at all whether folks buy a Mac or a PC. Why do you care so? This is my third PC, and I have a notebook that runs on Windows, and they have served me well over a good many years.

  9. Recent converts are always the worst Grandmere --so, I confess... Before I lost my job, I got a new laptop --and Joel talked me in to a Mac, though we didn't have an Apple or Mac product in the house --not one. I was more than pleasantly surprised...

Please accept my apology if I stepped over the line --but.... well, recent converts are always the worst!

  10. "Why do you care so?"

It's the kind of people we are, and we love you. If you saw another in great thirst, would you not offer a cup of water?

And, TheMe - I like to think of myself as affordable - Not cheap!

  11. "affordable - not cheap!"

Right on, KJ. Acolytes of your caliber never come cheaply.

Mimi, those of us who have used, and use daily, both PC and Mac, find Macs ever so much easier, that's all. But we don't care which you use just so we can enjoy you online.

  12. Dearest margaret, you did not step over a line.

KJ, your comment about giving drink to the thirsty simply does not apply, since I am not thirsty.

I just don't get it. I know folks who have switched the other way. I hate to say it, but y'all remind me of religious fundies. There's only one way to computer peace and happiness. Why then do PCs outsell Macs?

Yes, yes, I know. Mac users are the illuminati, and we PC users inhabit the dark corners. Be happy with your Macs. Enjoy them. It doesn't matter to me at all what kind of computer you use.

I have used Macs, and they didn't bowl me over, seriously. Just saying.

  13. My dear friends, I apologize. In my previous comment I come across as peevish and annoyed. In the future, I'll take the exchanges about Mac v. PC as running gags, and all shall be well. I'm sure you meant them that way. :-)

  14. Oh, {{{Mimi}}}. Loosiana's so very far from Californi-ay...

    [Yup, Geek Squad]

  15. JCF, I can call the Geek squad at the store where I bought the computer. I've not even started, so I haven't had a chance to run into problems yet.

  16. Gags --I did mean it that way! (and, yes --like I said, new converts are the WORST --and I confess I am one!)

--And I, for one, can't wait to see what you cook up on your new computer!

  17. margaret, it's all clear now. The scales fell from my eyes. My 'tude is corrected.

I'm getting accustomed to using my little notebook, which is one reason why I'm not rushing to get the new desktop up and running. There's always tomorrow....
