IT'S OUR JCF!

Read JCF's story at Born This Way:
What's most important about this photo, is how genuinely happy I am here. I look like me. That didn't happen again for too many years. Now, I'm content with my genderqueer self. I don't have to be either/or - I can be BOTH! And that's great!

  1. JCF, why have you hidden your photo all these years? You look totally and absolutely hawt!!! ♥♥

  2. Heh-heh, thanks you two.

Where this picture comes from, is also part of its charm. As you may know, I live w/ my 91 year-old dad now---he appreciates the help/company, I appreciate No Rent! (being among the Army of the Unemployed n' all).

On my dad's wall, there's a photo montage that my mom put together about 25 years ago, which includes this pic. Now I didn't come out to my mom till on her deathbed (2007, my dad the following year, in the run-up to PropH8). But the fact that my mom included it among her favorites, seems to indicate that she ALWAYS kinda knew, y'know? [Well, that's my story, and mom ain't here to contradict me! ;-X]

  3. I'm a bit put-out that no one's even inquired a BIT about my celebrity "blind item" that I posted (on the thread w/ this pic) at Crazy @rses.

...so *I* have to hint. "The One That Got Away" lives in your part of the world, Mimi. She became nationally famous (well, among the well-read set) in the past week... [Five years. I pined after/pursued her, on and off, for about *5 years*. I may be "hawt", but I'm also the Strike-Out King, {le sigh}]

  4. JCF, I expect your mom probably knew. Was your dad surprised?

You've got to give me more than your hint about 'the celebrity "blind item"'. I don't read every word that everyone posts at the other place, and I had not read your commentary until now. Come on now, can we have a name?

  5. Are you going to post more piccies, JCF?? (Hint hint) ;)

Yes, I want to know who this girlie was too. You can tell us!!! :)

  6. 1. "Your part of the world, Mimi" (Gulf Coast)

    2. "Well-read": my Hottie Who Got Away is an author. Specifically, a novelist.

    3. "Past Week": something connected to books/authors happened in the last week. As in "awards, nominations thereof"

That really SHOULD be enough... [Oh, alright: I'll throw in "Hurricane Katrina" for further disambiguation]

More pics of me, huh? Well, if you ask REALLY nicely, Cathy. ;-)

  7. JCF, I guess I'm not as well read as you thought. Email me, and I won't publish the name.

  8. I guessed all those factors except Katrina and did a Google search based on them but didn't come up with anything. I'll try again.

Yes, more piccies please, JCF - no idea why you have been hiding yourself all these years ;)

  9. JCF, is this the damsel whose knight errant you strove to be? ...

  10. That badly behaved JCF never came back to comment further, did he?

  11. Cathy, no. He may come yet. I don't give up hope.

  12. Yep, Cathy, you got it. It may have been Bad Timing, it may have been Not Meant to Be, it was probably some of each. I'm very happy for her---yet, wistful.

Sorry, y'all: still dealing w/ computer difficulties. I'll try to post some more pics when I get it all sorted...

  13. JCF, I am very curious about what happened and wish I knew more of the full story, but I don't want to pry, and you have only hinted really, so won't ask. It sounds as though you still miss her though :(

I must say, all my Ones Who Got Away have had the good grace to remain relatively unsuccessful in life, so far anyway :) I'd be rather peeved if they went about winning book awards and suchlike.

Cathy, you are so bad! ;-)

  15. Well, I don't want to exaggerate the extent of our relationship. One face-to-face meeting (which started it---after we'd vaguely known each other on a discussion site a year or two), plus a series of Deep&Meaningful Emails (esp. after she escaped Katrina Just Barely *) does not a Grand Romance make. But she was always JUST beyond my...opportunity.

And beyond her looks (if I can say that. I mean, YOWZA! :-O), there was Just Something About Her, y'know?

But as it is highly ungallant to talk about a lady---and amidst Other Fair Ladies!---me shutting up now. :-X

    * You didn't know me back in '05, Mimi, but I ALMOST came down your way then, to {fantasy} Rescue My Lady (w/ the "sweep her off her feet" part of it!). But she made it back to Michigan w/o my help.

  16. Well, JCF, I know what it's like to pine after someone one can't have, so, I don't know that you should play down the extent of your involvement either. It is a shame it went no further.

Eh, I'm used to it on some level. I've had a One Who Got Away who became a bishop! :-X [No, I won't tell you his name. He didn't do anything...illegal (Except rejecting me, which SHOULD be! *LOL*). But Thank God he did, because being a Bishop's Wife is a life I can't even IMAGINE now. Being married to the Baptist pastor was enough as it was... :-/]

  18. JCF, I think in that instance you were the One Who Got Away.

  19. Still & All, I'm tired of rejection!
