“When you look at someone to determine whether they’d be the right person for public office, look at who they lay down with at night and what they believe,” Santorum said.Rick's is a mind that blows mine. Rick's body may leave the bed and the bedroom, but seemingly his mind stays behind.

Did he mean "lay", or did he intend to say "lie"?
ReplyDeleteLapin, you'd have to ask Rick. I can't help you.
ReplyDelete... I guess he's being homophobic, at the end of the day (and in so far as anyone can tell)?? .... ?? :(
ReplyDeleteHe sounds about thick and bigoted enough to be a proper Republican president (judging by the more recent incumbents only).
Cathy, Santorum talks about sex so much of the time that he seems obsessed. Yes, he's well homophobic.
ReplyDeleteI think we're all pretty aware of who Rick would like, in his nad-of-nads, to lie down with/get laid by. (To practice his man-on-man ala man-on-dog ;-X)
ReplyDeleteHe meant "lie." When you lie down it's you doing that action. "Lay" is when you pick something up and put it down somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteBex, the misuse of lie and lay drives me batty, and it's so widespread.
ReplyDeleteI must be getting too old. I can remember when Pennsylvania had some Republican politicians who were not an embarrassment to us.
ReplyDeleteBill, wouldn't you say Santorum is a prize-winner for embarrassing Pennsylvanians? I don't know. Perhaps you've had worse. When I read his words, I burst out laughing. What's sad is that it's really not funny.
